~Horsin' Around~
Come Horse Around with The Tavern Troupe Performing Order!
Please join us on March 9th, at 9:30 PM EST for a parade to the Paladin Jousting Arena where we will hold a joust. This is our normal Happiest Hours scheduled time within our Order.
Our goal is to provide fun and entertainment for the populace and mounted riders of The Crossings, as well as for interested spectators; and to gather members of many guilds in a test of skill, as well as providing some competition and good sportsmanship.
You must provide your own horse, shield, and plate armor. Plate armor must be worn by the competitors. Lances for the competition will be provided in both pike and halberd styles. Further rules will be explained at the tournament. Whether you are a competitor or a spectator, come show your support for the sport of jousting, while enjoying a bit of fun and sportsmanship. This competition is open to folks of all guilds.
Divisions will be set up differently than normal in that we will divide up the contestants by earned shield ranks, i.e.: 1-50, 51-100, 101-150, 151-200, 201-250, 251-300, and 301+.
Format/Rules: The entrants in each division will be paired to joust against each other. Winners of each pairing will advance to the next round of competition, until a winner is determined.
Competitors must provide their own horses and any necessary tack or accessories, including a shield and plate armor for themselves. Plate body and head armor is required. Contestants must use the lances provided at the arena, they may not use any other weapon. Magic and roars etc. of any sort will NOT be allowed.
Matches will consist of three jousting 'passes' for each pairing, or until one competitor scores 5 points. An additional pass may be required by the judge if the score is tied at the end of three passes. Points will be awarded as follows:
Broken lance to shield - 1 point
Broken lance to body - 2 points
Lance strike to head (no break needed) - 3 points
Dismount the opponent - 5 points, automatic win
