Please join the Tavern Troupe for an outdoor concert at Town Green Southeast in Crossing, between the anlaen of Tamsine’s Toil and Revelfae, in the seventh month of Moliko the Balance in the year of the Silver Unicorn, 392. (March 8, 2009, at 9:00 p.m. eastern). The theme of this month’s concert will be flame and Tamsine, the Hearth-Keeper. Should the weather be inclement, we will move the concert indoors to the Order’s Headquarters – Crossings Room, out of respect to our instrumentalists. A signup list will be available at the Concert on the Green and the performances will be limited to the theme of the evening. Pre-registration is encouraged. Please contact Dulcinie or Deslah through the Tavern Troupe website at www.taverntroupe.net with your questions and pre-registration.
Contest: All performances must be fitting for a family-friendly realm and must be your original creation and no more than 10 minutes in length. Winning performances may be used for a future performance to be announced. The following is judging criteria:
Songs:
Length – 8 - 10 minutes from the opening verse to the bow at the end
Presentation - Use of voice, gestures, props
Structure – Rhythm, rhyme, and meter - not all songs must rhyme, but flow is important.
Content - In genre lyrics
Originality - Must be your original work
*Audience reaction - in case of tie, audience reaction will be deciding factor.
Stories:
Length – 8 - 10 minutes
Content - clear beginning, middle, end
Presentation - Use of props, voices, audience
Structure - Flow of story (does it keep us interested)
Originality - Is it a story we've all heard before or something new?
*Audience reaction will decide in case of tie
Other Length criteria:
Poems/Monologue - same as song
A litter of kittens playfully chase some drifting musical notes through the area. The notes, as they are unraveled, form a chorus that melodically invites you to join the Tavern Troupe Chorus at Town Green Southeast for a concert. One of the kittens scratches contentedly into a nearby fence pole, while another scratches watch News 4.10.
A “heap o’tanks” to everyone who attended. We think it was a success and those that came enjoyed themselves.
Winners of the contest:
1st place – Elrawen a trader with a rendition of “One Table, Two Table”
2nd place – Annikki with her story about Tamsine
3rd place – Urrs with his debut performance
An orange tabby slinks up to you and rubs against your leg, purring softly. As you kneel down to pet her, the animal whispers, “It’s almost time for the second Flame and Hearth-Keeper Concert on the Green.” With what you could swear was a sly wink, the cat slinks off purring contentedly, continuing on its journey.
