Hey, guess I might as well introduce myself. I'm Mike... from Winnipeg... anyway. I'm taking a course at University called the Rhetoric of Non-Fiction, basically a course in New Journalism. All this is probably very well and interesting to the rest of you, but I must get on to the relevent question. One of my assignments this term will be to hang out with a sub culture and learn as much as possible about them and then write a journal article on them. The articles to be some investigative journalism on the lines of Tom Wolf's "Kandy Kolored Tangerine Flake Streamline Baby" all the way to the other extreme of Hunter S. Thompson. So, the question is... Are MUD players (and DR players in general) a sub-culture (part of a larger group but with our own unique customs and the like)? If so, what characteristics have people noticed belonging to our group?

note sub-culture doesn't mean sub-human
