bears v san diego

bears as long as good rex plays football, and they figure out how to keep tank johnson out of jail. if they go with 3rd string DT's and a bad rex. its going to be over pretty quick. then I like the Saints. I love Brees.

i think san diegos homefield is going to be a lot to overcome, I like the ravens odds at slowing down the chargers enough, but the question will be can they amount enough offense?

sadly the afc seems to handily outclass the nfc. eitherway its prolly going to be a beatdown for the nfc in the big game.

I agree that the chargers are dominating everyone so far, but anything can happen on any given sunday. Especially when the playoffs roll around. :]

Well, the Ravens barely beat the Chargers earlier in the regular season. Quite a gripping game (I was fortunate enough to score tickets for that one). While playing on their field would definitely be a challenge, our offense has improved a fair amount since Billick took over the play calling and McNair has had time to get to know the offense a bit better. If I were laying odds on it today, I'd probably favor San Diego by no more than 3 to 5 points. It could really be anybody's game.

No matter what, I'm happy because we defeated the Browns last Sunday, finishing off their first inter-division shutout in their 60 years as a team. Combine that with the Colts defeating the Bengals last night and a surprise Christmas party at my local bar (with free food and 1/2 price drinks), and, well, suffice to say I can't complain.

In other words, the Ravens can't win it all, just because you used up all your good fortune over the weekend.

>>>Schottenheimer

In other words, the Chargers can't win it all because their head coach is under an ancient Egyptian curse which causes all their endeavors to fall to pieces mere weeks before their ultimate culmination.

Remind me to find out what Marty did to tick someone off that badly, just so I can avoid it like the plague.

i like the idea of a saints chargers superbowl. playoffs are probably going to be pretty good this year. even though the afc seems pretty lopsided compared to the nfc. within each conference the teams are pretty evenly matched.

as a fan i have to pull for the bears! go rex!

right now it will come down to a solid defense (ravens) against the most dangerous offense (san diego) for one half of the superbowl.

Then it will come down to a mediocre teams (New Orleans) against a team with a great defense and sucky quarterback (bears)

All in all at the end of the day, I kind of have this belief it will be New Orleans against the Chargers, at the end of the superbowl it will be the Chargers with the win, unless ofcourse New Orleans wins, in which their will be contraversy and probably an investigation into sports fixing in order to allow new orleans the win. Either way, New Orleans loses in the superbowl.

Any team with a dominating defense can hold their own in most situations against any team in the league.

You see this with the top tier college teams, but mainly at the NFL level. Anyone can win on any given day.

"Crappy teams from the Cubs to the Clippers inevitably get some brief moments in the sun. Not the Arizona Cardinals. Of the franchises around at least a decade - you're off the hook, expansion teams - no one can equal their ineptitude. Cardinal history is bleak in general (last title: 1947), but since moving west in 1987, they've been a disaster. Posting a single winning season in 19 years - in 1998 they went 9-7 - they've won less than 35 percent of their games, meaning they average roughly a 5-11 season (coincidentally, their record in 2005)." ~Jan. 2007 Maxim Magazine

Superdome is back to 100% functionality, if that's the stadium you are referring to. They basically gutted it all out (smart move, the smell would gag a maggot) and rebuilt the inside.

If the Saints go to the Super Bowl, I'll be looking for a couch to crash on in Miami. No way am I missing my team's first trip ever..

As someone who had to put up with the Cardinals whining about being forced to play on my in my college's stadium (We were the only people who would give them one when they moved here in 1987 and in recent years, lost $2 million/year on the deal) and someone with family ties to the new place, I've got to say that I absolutely LOVE the irony tha the Bidwell family sold the naming rights the the University of Phoenix.

First they change it from "Phoenix Cardinals" to "Arizona Cardinals", then they sue Arizona State University for advertising space, then they say that they hate playing in a college stadium and get the Fiesta Bowl to demand a new venue, then they get the tax payers to pay for their new stadium (something only previously done for an expansion team, the Arizonia Diamondbacks), then they sell the rights to the University of Phoenix. I do hope that the $15 million in revanue sharing that the Bidwells pocket isn't making the irony lost on them. I at least want them to KNOW they're being this amusing.

In any event, the new stadium is AMAZING.

They need to trade their first round for 2-3 second rounds and draft only linemen. They have the skill players and they never get a 1st rounder without a holdout.

Hawai'i Bowl against (gasp) Hawai'i. Dec. 24th at 8pm eastern. Immediately follows the Broncos game. Two awesome games on Christmas Eve; how terrible for me.

That being said, I'll make picks for them :)

Bengals: 21 Denver: 24
Warriors: 48 Sun Devils: 35

Yes, I'm picking against my Devils because Hawai'i has a stellar offense that will absolutely destroy the Devils' secondary. They also have a 6'3", 270lb RB.

Random guesses:
-Hawai'i QB breaks the single season TD passing record (he is one shy) by making it 59 TDs on the year.
-Jay Cutler has 2 passing TDs and one rushing TD
-Carson Palmer goes out injured in the 4th quarter
-Ryan Torrain (ASU) has 203 yards rushing
-If I get any 2 of these guesses correct, I'm buying a bunch of powerball tickets
