End result: Tootoo gets 4 for roughing, Robidas, (who didn't wake up until 30 minutes later in the hospital but is fine) 2 for charging, and Modano got NOTHING for that EGREGIOUS slash. In fact, "Missy" Modano went on to score a PPG on that power play, giving him the record for goals scored by any US born hockey player ever.
Granted, Modano's record is very respectable, but he should have been in the frickin box.

Bubba,
Your trip to the Dark Side that is True Hockey Fandom begins here.

Also, Jordin and Tootoo are the same person, so PRAXIS's comments were confusing even to me.
Robidas was the punchee, and got the deserved charging call. Double minor for roughing was adequate IMO on Tootoo. Missy Modano, though, is gonna get SUCH a booing when they play next. In fact, I'd be surprised if he didn't get the same treatment Paul Kariya gets in Anaheim when we play there (in other words, he's gonna get booed everytime he touches the puck). Speaking of which, Anaheim needs to get over themselves. Kariya has been a Pred for 2 years now.
The main difference here I feel is that Tootoo admitted and took responsibility for his actions in this lil fracas. Modano has not uttered one peep, be it for acknowledgement or apology.

Oddly enough, my first thought was this was all about Professional Wrestling. I didn't realize I was almost correct.

heh, I knew it wasn't wrestling, I keep up with that. Both College and fake TV wrestling. Hockey...umm...that I don't keep up with, the last Hockey Game I went to was the Washington Capitals agains't the New York Rangers. Which was like.......15 years ago, Before the Cap's started playing at the MCI Center, when they were in the US Air Arena in Landover, MD. When it used to be the Capital Center, before they tore it all down. Heh..ok, I feel old now.....15 years ago...::whimpers::

>>I...have no idea what any of this means.
That's a relief. I thought it was just me.

Ha! Personally, I was speculating it was some mad form of like...rollerball meets basketball or something. I didn't even realize it was still hockey season. Then again, I forget that in the cruelest twist of fate, hockey season lasts for about 19 months a year, whereas football season is practically over before the first post-Labor Day barbeque.
Why do ye curse me so, O gods of all things Sport? ::insert fist-shaking here::

Looking at the rule for charging, it doesn't have to end with contact against another player, the refs can call it just for someone beelining halfway across the rink towards someone, which is what happened here.
Confusing since, like you said, Robidas was out cold, yeah. Fair, probably.
More important is the fact that Modano got off scott free to go and score his record breaking goal. And THEN the Dallas owner went off on a rant in the papers the next day saying how we in Nashville just don't know anything about hockey because the game wasn't stopped to give Modano the recognition he deserved. Most of the fans in attendance that night I'm sure would've loved to have given Modano some extra attention...in the parking lot after the game. Thankfully, as rabid as we Nashville hockey fans can be inside the arena, we have enough class to not carry that stuff outside. Heck, last year at the playoffs, we sat next to a bunch of folks in Sharks jerseys. Yeah, there was ribbing back and forth, but walking out with them, everyone was in good spirits after a hard fought game.
End of the day, congrats to Missy Modano for scoring your record breaking goal, even though you should've been in the box. Well done.
On a side note, we've clinched a playoff spot here for the third consecutive year, and are still tied for first in the league with 7 games to go in our schedule. Hopefully we can get our forwards healthy and pull off at least 4 wins out of this last 7 games, especially the last reg. season game in Denver, which the gf and I will be travelling to see.

Hockey. Yuck.
On to NCAA basketball! My two favorite teams on the men's side both..BOTH..almost beat Florida. That would be Purdue and Butler. I now, of course, hope Florida goes down in flames.
On the women's side, my Purdue Boilermakers are the only 2 seed to advance to the Sweet Sixteen. First time in history only one 2 seed has made it. Proud of 'em.
It's March Madness, baby! What's all this talk of hockey?? ; )

NASCAR...not a sport. It relies, IMO, more on the car than on the physical prowess of the driver. I mean, c'mon. It was invented by hillbilly moonshine runners who wanted to pit their shine wagons against one another!
