Nothing as grand as all that.
Just tweaked the stairs a lil' bit for more experience and (in some cases) faster climbs. One reason I kept the experience relatively modest in the past was that just going from the top to the sea caves could fry mindstates. That should no longer be an issue.

You know, my one trip up the stairs (and back) to check out the city, got my thief up to pondering with 300 climbing. I thought that was a little higher, but had a boat to catch before I could make any more tests.
