Ok. Not a citizen, have no money to become one, but I have a question about one of the citizen "perks". When you try to go out one of the closed gates, you hit your nose, yet citizens walk effortlessly through. This makes no sense to me-either the gates or open or they're not. I've even witnessed the gaurds getting ready to open the gates at dawn, so my thing is this: If they're closed, and such a pain to get open, why can some of us go through and some of us can't? Does being a citizen give you the power to walk through walls? It might make more sense if a guard stopped non-citizens or something.

Message a citizen sees when they go in at night:
The guards open the South city gates slightly to allow you to slip through. "Greetings, Starsha, please hurry through."
Opening the gates a teeny bit to allow one person to slip though is very different than opening them completely. And to be quite frank, does it really matter?
