Taken as a whole, I think Therengia is pretty much as functional a province as Zoluren, however due to all the partitioning of water ways, this just isn't the case. That said, I propose that two toll bridges be built, one to the south of Lagenfirth and west of the current ferry dock, and the other, simply the rebuilding of the old bridge from crocs where it's possible to swim with quite a bit of skill.

Now, the bridges would be toll bridges, and probably cost 500-1000 coins to use, however would be free for citizens, similtar to the way the lifts work in Ratha. This would certainly make Therengia easier to live in for its citizens. <G>

How would this be any different from the ferries? I mean, the bridge from crocs, I understand, but with the barge to lang, you cross a river, it would take the same amount of time, if not longer, but instead, in theory, your character would be more tired, because they'd be footing it instead of righting.

Actually, you cross a very large lake. Remember, both shores are out of view for half the trip.

Greets all,

Since I have not looked it up recently ig, can anyone provide the amount it costs to become a citizen of Therengia? Also, as I remember (though it was long ago after it first became available), is it still available only to premium subscriptions? Thanks in advance for answers.

3150 Lirums.

No. What would be the point of leaving the system on Premie preview for a year?

Gulph,

No, I believe you have to go to Theren. But, the plus side is, if your coin is in Haven, you don't have to carry it with you as they'll just charge it to your debt, which can then be paid in Haven.

Great! That definitely helps. Well, I've been putting it off for two months hoping to build up a little more in the bank account, but now's as good a time as any. I just hope my citizenship dues and vault fees don't show up on the same day. My Haven account is looking pretty shabby right now, and bringing money north from Crossing or other points south is often...unpleasant. :(

Thanks again!

I was wondering if it might be possible to make the ferries in Therengia free like the one in Zouleren instead of it being half price?

To me, having them free would be a significant benifit simply because I wouldn't have to worry about carrying money for them. Honestly, the fees for the ferry are totally insignificant, so half price is, basically, no benifit at all. Even if I took the barge twice a day at 35 coins per trip, it would only add up to 2.1 gold. To get the tiniest discount through citizenship gold cost for citizenship, I would have to take the barge 295 times a month. That's an average of 10 times a day. Somehow I doubt ANYONE spens 5 hours a day on the barge.

Even if they were free, I would have to take them 143 times a month to save any money.

That said, just not having to actualy carry any money at all is the biggest benifit of all, and if this change were made I would certainly become a citizen.

check with your local trader first.

as a citizen of therengia, with caravan in tow, you do make up the benefits of citizenship by taking the barge many times a day in the course of trading.

reminder--Traders pay More for the barges, ferries etc with a caravan in tow.

Okay, so citizenship is worthwhile for traders... that doesn't make it worthwhile for me. <G>

Do traders get to take the ferry in zoulern totally free or do they still have to pay whatever the extra fee is?

go ferry
The Captain stops you, "Only a small transportation fee of 170 kronars for your goods today, Apu." You hand him your kronars and climb aboard.

I'm a Zoluren citizen and had a caravan with 5 crates on it, getting on the ferry to Leth.

IC - the barge across Lake Gwen is a privately run enterprise, as is the barge to Throne City. The Baron is kind enough to supplement the transportation fees for his citizens on these boats, but he must charge for crossing the Faldesu to be able to make up for it.

At least that's my take on it.

OOC - Cadaya decided that it wasn't IC for Therengia to pay the whole fee for the ferry rides. He didn't go into detail on why though, but I imagine the afore mentioned private enterprizes factored into his decision.

Also, the barge to Throne City is rather expensive, so you do save a bit of coin going to and from there (if not a Moonie).

I think that maybe the barges from Haven to Lang should be free ( as said before just to stop you from having to worry about coins).
