This was a good idea and all, but there's something that happens at the end that's really not right. The roundtime you have on the rope is there because you're busy shuffling to the other end.. makes perfect sense. It doesn't make sense, however, that a critter on the south end can advance you while you're still shuffling down the rope (in roundtime). It would be perfectly realistic for them to wait for you on the other end and be at melee when your roundtime is up. Except, how can they be at melee before your roundtime is up? You're supposed to still be on the rope, right? This could make things really hard on the younger folk who are trying to explore the area.
Other than that, there were some really cool ideas for the new area. I especially liked climbing up to a vantage point so you can see where you're supposed to go on the path (haven entrance). Really interesting and fun stuff.

Okay, someone beat me to this, which is good.
It shows that I'm not alone in this.
This rope acts like the path down in Shard that allows creatures to advance on you while you are in RT.
If you think about this concept (the rope and the path), it is completely OOC.
They can't advance on you until you are in the area. If you are in the area, then your done with the 'getting to the area' Round Time.
If the rope can't be made to work like the road out to vines/creepers in Theren, then maybe make that first room the rope ends up in a safe room. This is OOC too, but so is the problem it fixes.
Same thing on the path in Shard. Make that ending room a safe room if you can't fix the problem because of mechanics issues.

This is not the case, the road from Therenborough is not a safe room. It used to be, but that was due to the "If a Banner of Truce is up when the game crashes it never goes away" bug. It was fixes about a year ago, I think.
Doesn't invalidate your point, just wanted to set the record straight.

no, you NEVER get attacked while you are in the RT 83 sec one way, 63 sec the other <why it takes longer to go west than to go east the equal distance I've never been able to figure out> in the theren place. by the creepers/vines/merauders. Have been thru there with my trader many times working the routes. you DO get attacked in shard while in the 30 sec rt going from the winding trail by rock trolls/jackals, et al. which should be changed. The Orc area ropes shouldn't let you be attacked while in RT: you are crossing the ropes, and the rt is supposed to indicate the time you are on the ropes. you shouldn't be in RT once you've "arrived". please make the other 2 areas like the theren area. thanx.

THe place in shard, you can be attacked because you're put into the room then the RT starts, this is probably the same as the rope bridge. YOu're right it should be changed. I didn't claim you did, Gonif. I was simply stating that the room at the end of the trail is not a safe room, which I thought Eldrad had said.

Ha! I have to concur with this, I very nearly got slapped around exploring around there. Granted im only 30th circle and I knew full well that I was going over my head exploring in there, but still, im either up the rope or I am down and finished climbing. But until I have finished climbing and am down on the ground, there is no way I should be in combat with a critter.
I was very lucky, the bandit only got a couple of hits in and nothing life threatening, but he also didnt begin advancing me the second I entered the room and got the huge RT. If he had he would have be able to rip me to shreds and kill me without me ever leaving RT.
Personally I think the best way to fix it would be just to leave you in the rope room and give you the RT that your climbing down, and not have you arrive at the bottom until the RT is over, since thats what your doing, climbing down!! <g>
Hope someone reconsiders how it works, on a side note, I thought the area was great, was something haven much needed.
