You commit a crime, stealing, murder....whatever. Automatically you are picked up...you haven't a chance to fight, run do anything except get thrown in jail. The system is a little boring. The auto jailor. Makes a little sense in Crossings, and the other territories where pilfering is just a fine. Ilithi though, I think they wouldn't mind the option of fighting or fleeing.

Enchante was just stealing!

A passerby runs off screaming for Enchante to be arrested for pilfering.

A passing guard walks up to you and commands you to come with him.
(enter NPC guard for area)
Type ARREST HELP for details.
arrest help

You scoundrel! The guard must be looking right at you.
Alright you've a couple of options.
You may 'give up', and surrender to the will of the court or...
You can 'arrest evade' and take your chances with the local guards.

arrest evade
You smirk at the guard and give him your 'Do your worst' look.

The guardsman roars for reinforcements.

The guardsman begins to advance on you.
(fight ensues...guard wins)
The guard backs away as you lapse into unconsciousness. The last thing you see is the hilt of his sword coming down towards your head and then all is black. You feel hands under you carrying you away.

Wake up in cell, bleeders healed by the auto empath (double charges for convict healing).

Dragged in front of judge.

You are charged with pilfering and resisting arrest. Blah blah. Punishment dependant on province.

(you win battle with guard)

You back away from the guard as he lapses into unconsciousness.
You gesture at a guard.
A bolt of bluish lightning blazes out of the sky towards a guard!
The bolt blasts through the chest in an explosion of mangled, smoky flesh!
Roundtime: 2 seconds.
The guard shudders once and then dies, a death rattle coming from his throat.

A passerby runs by screaming for Enchante to be arrested for murder against the state!

A guard just arrived.
A guard captain just arrived.
A guard just arrived.
A guard just arrived.

The guard captain shows you the warrant commanding your arrest. "Surrender now!"
Second bout...they kill you instead of bringing you in with a few healed bleeders....so and and so forth.

For people down in Ilithi this makes alot more sense. But people anywhere will enjoy the choice I think. Add a few rules for guild specific things. Thieves getting thugging if they kill too many guards, clerics can't circle, empaths get the shock, traders refused contracts...so on and so forth. Or at least until they turn themselves in.

Everytime a guard sees you after that they call for reinforcements.

Could make it alliance friendly too. Killing guards in Crossings isn't frowned upon in Ilithi, but everywhere else it is. Killing guards in Ilithi isn't frowned upon anywhere. Up to you fine people. Just thought I'd throw a new idea your way.
