I wanted to voice complaints that the world is too centered around The Crossing. Most other cities aren't even viable options, either lacking certain guild halls, training facilities, or other essential services.

Shard for example, while it has training facilities and all the guild halls, the music, weapon, and locksmith shops and three of the gates close at night, the tannery is remote and difficult to find without a map.

It would be nice to see each city brought on par with The Crossing so people have a reason to dwell in each one. As they stand right now, almost every city other than The Crossing is just a stop on a round trip rather than a destination. People go to them to get something specific and then return to The Crossing.

Just my thoughts on it.

I would disagree. Riverhaven and Ratha have nearly everything Crossing has to offer for example. Aesry as well. Although some items may be more expensive in these places and they lack a 0th level training area like Crossing, they still offer almost all the same things.

I would have to say that makes them unsuitable alternatives. The lack of 0 level training areas isn't too bad of a drawback, and neither is slightly higher prices. Abilities for some guilds only function in The Crossing. And certain abilities function better with an increase in player population. Charisma only seems to affect prices at shops located in or near The Crossing. A large majority of quests are located in or around The Crossing. Some guild locations outside of The Crossing have (effectively) skill or circle requirement. (making those locations not viable options for some people until those requirements are met) none of these things are significant deterents. When all of those things are combined, they lead to what we have now, the majority of people stay in The Crossing area because you're effectively penalized or at the very least, inconvenienced, for straying.

If I leave The Crossing, I entirely lose one ability, a second ability is reduced in effectiveness, everything becomes more expensive, there are fewer people everywhere else which means teaching, being taught, healing, and clerical assistance becomes increasingly rare (around The Crossing, a novice can always be found to teach, an idle empath or cleric can always be found to teach you, heal your, or rejuvinate you). The Stealing skill can only be learned in The Crossing (in a practical manner anyway, at least until upper levels of skill). Which means few people have anything to gain by leaving the crossing, therefore people don't leave it. That's why it's densely populated compared to anywhere else in the realms.

I think it would be nice if other locations were made to be equally convenient.

In the end, I guess this is what separates adventurers from crossing-folk.

I don't hold anything against the crossing... (Except the annoying gweth chatter, endless bickering and inevitable sparring, constant theft...) But, I can honestly say, I'm glad there's a place we can call a cesspool.

Makes other places worth living in and puttin' up with their shortcomings.

Aesry, my home, for example: Does not have this horrible gweth chatter, It's typically a respectful place... downfall, I don't learn teaching or heck, perception as much as I would in crossing.

In the end, it's what you make of it. I don't want every place to be as adapt to everyone as Crossing is. There wouldn't be a place to just run off to.

Did I mention that some of us don't care to learn stealin'?

I really wouldn't say it's a matter of making everywhere adapt to be like The Crossing. But it would be nice if a good number of other places were. You could still have places to run off to if half the places were as adventurer-friendly as The Crossing is. I don't think it's a matter of being adventurous. Some places just don't have what they need to attract people. Like Shard with swimming and climbing. Learning stealing isn't at issue, it's just one of many issues. It's no single feature that holds places back, it's a combination of dozens of features. So have Aesry stay as it is, but that doesn't mean everywhere except The Crossing has to be deficient.

At how many ranks do you want to train it? Maybe there's just areas ya aren't aware of? The small pond in grass eels works well for me. And climbing in Malchatas works pretty well for me too. Although know that I'm not disagreeing with you that places like Shard need more viable options for certain types of training, just that there might be areas that ya aren't aware of that other players could help ya with first.
