Well today I found out why people do not hunt in snowbeasts on the Leth side of the gondola, you depart to Shard. After departing immediately I ran back from Shard, took a half-hour trip on the gondola and arrived just in time to find my grav emptying itself out.
I am puzzled as to why you depart to Shard when you are in Leth and are forced to take a gondola trip that virtually ensures the janitor will get your gravegoods.

Leth is one of those odd places where part of it is in one province, and part in another. The snowbeasts are in the Ilithi part of Leth.
I understand that consideration is being given to making some provision for geologic locations for the purposes of departure. Personally, it would make perfect sense to me to be able to depart to Berengaria's altar in the Gash. But I don't know what kind of mechanics are involved.

There are a number of places with similar circumstances as to their "not making sense" in terms of departing.
the gash--should depart to Leth deriel instead of Shard
crocs--should depart to Dirge instead of Riverhaven
Aesry by the shore--should depart to the shrines down by unyns instead of all the way up in the city.

The reason, I'm sure, is a mechanics reason:
Before the third province opened up, there was just a gate that you couldn't get through where we now exit Leth to get to Shard. That is most likely the game's way of saying this is where the third province begins.
As a nostalgic FYI: Gargoyles and snowbeasts were the big bad invaders of those days just before the opening to Shard. Gargs were considered the "in-thing" for higher circlers to hunt as soon as we could get through the gate and visit Shard. :)
Don - who remembers hunting reavers when gargs invaded and telling himself he'd never go into the mine again. Does anyone actually remember when Outrider's invaded? I still have a broadsword or two from those invasions!

::Blink::
If you're referring to that area by Lassie's manor (I love the nickname!), then yes you should be departing to Leth. And before the new province opened, you would have.
