I wonder, what's the point in the webbing that pops up to delay you when you pass between the crossroads where you can get into Dryads and the city of Leth?

It doesn't teach you anything(Personally, I think it should teach even just a tiny bit of escaping, considering the skill is hard enough to learn as it is without classes or going to specific hunting areas) and there is no danger from it. It seems like a pointless waste of 8-12 seconds when someone wants to get from point A to point B.

It's no big deal, but it would be nice, if there is no point to it besides 'flavor', that it be ditched. Or, as I might prefer, have it teach a fragment of escaping.

Its easy enough to avoid! Just wander a bit aimlessly while heading toward it and wait for someone to pass you by, then follow them and you'll walk right by it while they get hit! Har!

A fun event would be to get a large group together to hunt down and kill that darn spider once and for all. Or have escaping skill allow folks to avoid the web.

Yeah, its kind of silly and it is certainly old for those who have been around the block a few times. Perhaps either expanding the concept of a spider who persistantly builds his web on a heavily traveled road (and in different places too) Or just get rid of it. Its a nuisance and provides little entertainment. The most Dax has done is laugh at someone or go Eeeep! Spidies!

maybe if some gm gets bored they can just make it an escaping test eh?

I've been caught in it enough times by now I should have more escaping than evasion! heh heh

I was told that the webbing did train escaping at one time. Then someone changed something about escape and it stopped teaching escape. Can it be made to teach escaping once again and be avoidable with enough escaping, like the mud on the NTR?

I don't remember that web ever teaching anything. If it did, it was pre web. <g>

If I remember correctly the only place to learn escaping pre-web was under theren keep. We've been asking for years for that web to teach escaping however.

Dulci's right... it never trained escaping in the 7-8 years I've been playing. None of my characters EVER had escaping ranks until the muck appeared on the NTR... it's just such a horrid skill to train.

Well I guess it was just a Ranger Myth then. During the time I have been playing it has not taught escape.

It certainly is one of those myths you want to believe though, since if it did once teach escape it might be easy for them to turn it back on.

We definately need more places to learn escape and this is an obvious choise. Is it possible to make it teach escape?

You're welcome. I've been messing with the code and only hit a tiny, insignificant snag. Somehow, I've broken that the webbing wears off. When I was testing I ultimated ended up with a half dozen webbed who couldn't escape...

maybe can copypaste the code from the muck in the ntr, and just match spiderweb instead of mud?

giggle. That had to be frustrating to be caught but funny as all get out once it was over.

I'm picturing people pulling webs off that stick to them and the more they pull the more they get stuck....sort of like a little toy I found once made of folded woven paper....

But if they sit still for a bit, a timer kicks in and they can get free. Of course, while they struggle, they learn escape.

Well dang I'd have to rearrange my list of long standing annoying issues if this got taken care of.

You can't make the list go away... I need to complain about something.
