Player based is also reliant on them actually... Well... Playing. This is the driving force behind the issue as a hole.

If a moonie wants to be " present". At a specicific time everyday rain or shine in good business in bad,... Oh never mind it's crazy...and therein lies the problem.

not necessarily. if you tend to play in off hours, there just aren't that many people around. although in prime and tf i don't usually have the issue because i have my own boat both places. in plat i have to wait around for the right moon to be up. :-(.

Its also not an issue that there are no work-arounds to the problem at hand. Its the overall availability of the work-arounds that's the crux of the problem.

There is no where near the demand or player base for this to be truly feasible.

Reliability, consistancy, is the name of the game I think. And players, being players, have things to do other than moongate my sorry sack across the ocean at 4am.

While NPCs don't. And moreover, will be happy to do it every time I ask, if I want to make 13 trips back and forth in a matter of moments.

I'd go so far as to say DR should have more NPC services, of better quality.

That's because AFK scripting is against policy.

That doesn't mean you can't create a script that does the same functions and use it in Prime while not AFK.

Perhaps I'm the oddball here- but I have found boat travel as it is to be relaxing, and a good time to hang out with friends. In the meanwhile, there are ways around the boats- such as moongating.

However, I'm not too keen on the arrival/departure times on most of the boats being off by hours.

I'm aware of them, they wouldn't work on the ocean as is and that's where the boats really need improvment. If it was as easy as it looks on the surface, I probably would have added them between Ratha and Aesry already.

Sorry for the double post but this is dumb. Over 2 hours wait just to get on the boat is horrible game design, no matter how it is justified IC. You could get the same "immersion" out of a 15 minute wait as you would a 2 hour one.

Couldn't agree more, and before you say, go do something else and come back... not everyone has the luxury of playing all day and night in order to make this work.

Nope. First of all, we have to stop training to gate people, and there simply isn't a lot of call for gates to Mer'Kresh from Crossing or vice versa.

I let people IM me for a moongate, but then I just end up getting IMs at 3am which I won't see until 6am at the earliest.

In short, it's not something that's workable from a player perspective.

I think most people would be satisfied with a Premium gating service. Once an hour, every hour, moons allowing, an NPC opens moongates from the Crossing clubhouse to Mer'Kresh (Xibar), Aesry (Yavash), and Ratha (Katamba). Usable both ways. The gates remain open for 3 minutes. You get charged 10 platinum lirum from one of your Qi-based accounts.

Gives everyone a reason to go Premium again, too.
