>>A long war event that takes place on M'riss with 150th+ creatures?
Good idea, I'll pass it along to the Event Team. The past few years GMs haven't had alot of luck getting people interested in events on M'Riss. I'd love to see this change.

Sorry it's part of the island's lore. S'kra have an interesting history on M'Riss.
>>Ok, the onnnnne thing I would want for Christmas for M'riss is... a way to tell when the Degan is arriving/shipping<<
The Degan is a smuggler's ship so why would they want people knowing its exact schedule? Lore thang!
>>More shrines. Pretty please.
Interesting idea but there's already a shrine on M'riss and Mer'Kresh and it's not that big an island. Where do you think it would benefit people to have another shrine?

>>Crafting hall.
Good guess but NOPE!
I do have news on that subject though. Due to all the posts I read here requesting the Crafting Hall I spoke with GM Kodius. The crafting system is huge so he's totally overwhelmed with work and had no plans to get to the forge hall on M'riss anytime soon. I love my Rissans so I offered to help him out and build it myself.
The proposal is in and if it's approved M'Riss will have a Crafting Hall sometime next year.

Since the changes to favor mechanics it is no longer simply about number of favors but from which Immortal you're asking for favor.
It is a legitimately huge pain in the rear to have to travel out of the province to get favors, even if you don't care about the other complaints vis-a-vis travel time.

>>The Degan is a smuggler's ship so why would they want people knowing its exact schedule? Lore thang!
Yes, but for playability's sake you can make work-arounds with a bit of creativity. Here is just one idea out of a myriad I can think of to get past the "Smugglers wouldn't want anyone to know" issue.
* * * *
>ask goblin about degan
A shady looking goblin steps up next to you and whispers, "I don't keep tabs on the exact schedule myself, but for a few coins... I might be willing to ask around and maybe I can find out how long ago it left."
>give goblin 5 gold lirums
A shady looking goblin smirks and trots off.
A moment later...
A shady looking goblin steps up next to you and whispers, "So, according to a few of my various sources the Degan left sometime around two anlas and fifty-one roisan (1 hr 51 min) ago. Based on how fast the ship travels and how long it usually stays docked at the other port, I'd guess that it should be arriving in another two anlas and nine roisan (1 hr 9 min) roughly. You speak a word of this to anyone and it'll be your head!"
* * * *
In my opinion you're really shooting yourself in the foot with regard to M'riss/Mer'Kresh interest for making this island so hard to travel to/from. Even if M'riss is out of the question because of the Big Bad smugglers, why not make a boat with a reliable schedule that travels from Mer'Kresh to mainlands instead? That would accomplish the same general goal of "More convenient travel between M'riss/Mer'Kresh and mainlands". I know the boat system is a pain, and the time it would take to code something like this isn't something which would happen over night, but even if something like this were to just be -on the table- it would feel infinitely better than hearing you say "Tough luck, Smugglers pwnz u."
And just for the record, all of the super bad guys you try to exile to M'riss/Mer'Kresh have boats anyway so it's easy for them to just sail back to mainlands. Unfortunately, not all of us have our own personal boats :/
This is expressly one out of (probably) many different opinions of the inhabitants of M'riss/Mer'kresh.

If you completely sideline the game's lore to play-ability the reason to play the game at all diminishes for a larger number of players.
M'Riss being an unfriendly place is so well-established it perplexes me as to why people continually ask for it to be nicer.

In-game, decades of occupation by wealthy, powerful, and intelligent adventurers would change this. You can always change things for the better and remain consistent with the lore.

Except it's also had centuries of occupation by wealthy, powerful, and intelligent smugglers who would work against this. Adventurers don't impact the politics of Elanthia very much.

I'm sorry, but having one little npc who has been "paying attention to the boat under the radar of the smugglers" does not broken-lore make.

PCs don't visibly impact Elanthian politics for matters of practicality: there are hundreds of players and only a few GMs playing NPCs of story note. Everyone participating in the story can't have a role vital to the story's development.
There is plenty of precedent for GMs building or revising areas as a direct result of in-game player efforts or drives however.

+3, because its that good.
Yes this, but and so I can push that up to +3 for real, have it be 5 platinum, come on, you know its worth it guys.
And for the Lore, think of it this way. Smugglers need to be somewhat well known, they need to be known because they need to have things to smuggle, and places to smuggle to, and all of that stuff.

Sorry but we've seen the goblin or imp or whatever snitch idea before and for various reasons it isn't likely to happen. I bring up the lore aspect because it's something I can discuss here but there's more to it that I can't discuss with the players.
Just like the dang boat schedules, if it was an easy fix we probably would have done something already.
Since we're aware of the travel challenges and they've been debated to death on the boards over the years, let's move on!
I still have some surprises in my holiday bag!
