The issue is that, in a practical sense, right now Muspar'i = Velaka. In a technical sense however, Muspar'i =/= Velaka. I'm working very, very hard on fixing this. Some time in the coming weeks you all should get a chance to see with your own eyes the first step in that direction. Well, that's assuming your eyes don't get damaged too badly in the process. I encourage you to wear a hooded cloak.

>>The King of Muspar'i has declared his city neutral a very long time ago and as such he allows just about anyone to be within the walls to do business as long as it's peaceful. This includes the desert dwellers from nearby.
I hope this message becomes relayed IG again. Because a certain player spokesperson for the Outcasts declared that citizens of Shard, or perhaps it was the Shard Court (my memory is fuzzy but it was one or the other) were not allowed in the city.

Thank you so much GM Basilisc! My character loves Muspar'i as a city, but I know the connection between the city and the Outcasts often keeps people away. I should make it clear she doesn't have a problem with the Outcasts as a whole (who actually do something to help the city), it's just the PC group that I have bad encounters with for the most part. They're not bad people I'm sure, just bad experiences. But I digress, I am very happy to hear you are still working on our city, that is really really great news. I'd like to add a small suggestion and a request to be considered please:
For citizenship perks (I love the Palace Road perk btw):
A - Reduce the exchange fee at the bank for citizens. I suggested this before and you were going to look at it, seeing as it is exorberent for everyone right now. I didn't expect this to be done overnight, I was just reminding you since I was adding a new one as well.
B - Add an affiliation title. Let there be "Of the Velaka" and "of Muspar'i" (Or the Desert Jewel, Sun'Egg, etc.)
Thank you!
You also hinted that hooded cloaks may provide some protection against sandstorms in the future (at least that's what I got from your reply). If this does happen, could you also add the uaro's'sugi sold in Muspar'i to the list of things to protect against the wind since they why they are sold. I actually buy them for all guests I bring into the city to just RP that it helps against the sand and wind. Also, on a few occasions there have been "sun goggles" sold at different festivals. Maybe they could be coded to help the sand as well? Just an idea.

Velakan Citizenship (was Re: Muspar'i and Outcasts) on 01/13/2011 10:46 AM CST
<<A - Reduce the exchange fee at the bank for citizens.>>
To be fair, I didn't forget about this, really. I just, you know, neglected to remember it. But in apology, I woke up this morning and just went ahead and made it so. Citizens will now receive a more favorable exchange rate than the unwashed miscreants we call "tourists." Thanks go to GM Zeyurn and GM Turmis for making this possible on such short notice. This is live in all instances of the game, as of several minutes ago.
<<B - Add an affiliation title.>>
Very likely not to change. Not because I disagree with the logic (Muspar'i and Velaka are very much not the same thing) but because there's no precedent for it. Citizens of Ilithi don't get to choose "of Shard" or "of Zaldi Taipa" and citizens of Therengia don't get to choose "of Therenborough" or "of Riverhaven" currently. (If they do, someone can correct me, of course.) Yes, the citizens of Qi can get specific titles, but the situation is a tad different because those islands are separated by both water and governance. If the other provinces ever do get this (or if they have it already and I'm just out of the loop) then I'll see about giving you folks "of Muspar'i" and "of Heru Taipa" and whatever other settlements may or may not come to exist.
<<could you also add the uaro's'sugi sold in Muspar'i to the list of things to protect against the wind>>
For the ones that exist currently, no. It would be unfair and also very confusing, because I can't change all of the ones that have already been purchased, so people would have to go buy them again, and there'd be the age old problem of "old" uaro's'sugi versus "new" uaro's'sugi... I don't want to deal with the head (no pun intended) ache it would cause. The same would go for the sun goggles, as well. However it is possible for me to come up with another generation of uaro's'sugi that would function like hooded cloaks, as well as release new shops with hooded cloaks and burnooses and such. In fact, one such shop is already through QC and awaiting release.
Patience grasshopper. Er, sandhopper? Whatever. Good stuff is coming.

Oh I don't mean to sound impatient at all, I am very much patient and really happy with everything you've been working on. I just have to throw my ideas out there, ya know?

Most times I add new ideas for citizenship perks, I also add my old ones just in case they were forgotten or to remind the GM's I still think they're a good idea. I am honestly shocked and in awe that you did this so fast with the help of those two GM's. I didn't expect that but it is amazing. Thank you!
>>Re: Affiliation title - Very likely not to change.
I thought about this as I was typing it and almost deleted it until I remembered the island titles. I didn't realize the islands were so different in that respect. So now this makes sense!
>>Re: goggles and uaro's'sugi's - For the ones that exist currently, no.
Ok, understood! It would be a huge waste of time in my opinion for you to have to go back and change all the old ones in existence currently. I thought maybe if the change was made it would already change the others, but looking back..I remember that's not the case. Adding a new shop for those things is amazing, thank you so much for working on that.
>>Good stuff is coming.
Oh, I know. A ton of good stuff has already come, and that in itself is worth being excited about. The only things that actually frustrate me about the area having nothing at all to do with development and the things which are available. You guys are doing a perfect job as far as I'm concerned, thank you again for the quick response and the hard work!

>>Anyway just hoping to see some more people up there to RP with. Alexii left, Lomelinde is an Outcast (Although easily one of my favorite people to RP with in the game) and a smattering of other people, a quarter of which are Jappal's wives.
I'll be back there with a handful of others soon. Things got slow where I was training so I went somewhere else for a few circles. I do miss the city though. It's a nice place.
For those thinking about going, Terra was very nice to us while we were hanging out there. None of us were Jappal's wives either!

Basilisc - Could you perhaps give us a review of Muspar'i politics? Concerning the city in relation to Therengia and the Baron.
1. From what I understand, the city is on Therengian soil but operates under its own government, ruled by King Arhhdan?
2. The main access to the point is controlled by Therengia, though does that mean the Baron has any other authority over the city?
(this next question is totally unrelated to politics)
3. The Warrior Mage guild, headed by Guildmaster Jharlan, holds some very important relics. Why this guild in particular? Is it because it is supposedly the first Warrior Mage guild in existence and Arhat choose to keep them there?
Which would be worse? To live as a monster or to die as a good man?

Redeth, I can answer your question in part.
Actually, it's a lot to explain so read this book:
http://elanthipedia.com/wiki/Book:HxxHM
The city is ruled by "The Blood of Shorka" which at one time meant the actual blood relatives of Shorka the Cobra, but now it's more just politics.
Theren has influence over Muspar'i because it controls the trade route that leads there, but the city itself is ruled by King Arhhdan. And then city politics are an entirely different ball game, influenced by Shh'oi Gamant hhs Muspar'i (Great Houses of Muspar'i)
I'm not sure about the artifacts in the Warrior Mage Guild although they are very cool. The Gardens are amazing, the way a spell from each book interacts with the area, and differs based on how much power you put into the spell.
