haircombs in the new Riverhaven shop on 03/21/2008 07:59 PM CDT

I'd like to greatly thank the GMs that have helped make this shop a reality. I do have a question regarding the haircombs though. Are they intended to change the hair of the wearer until the haircomb is removed? Here is what I've found. About 15 minutes ago, in game, I looked like this:

>l terr
You are Terra Meigus, Aes-Danai of Velaka, an Elf.
You have elegant arched eyebrows, pointed ears and dark eyes. Your ash-blonde hair is long and straight, and is worn in a deceptively careless-looking arrangement of upswept locks held in place by an etched elven silver oak leaf haircomb set with tiny moonstone chips. You have tanned skin.
You are tall for a Elf.
You are in good shape.

Now, without having interacted with this haircomb, I once again look like this:

You are Terra Meigus, Aes-Danai of Velaka, an Elf.
You have elegant arched eyebrows, pointed ears and dark eyes. Your ash-blonde hair is long and straight, and is worn pulled back in a ponytail. You have tanned skin.
You are tall for a Elf.
You are in good shape.

And the hairclip did not suddenly appear in my inventory look either. I still have it, because if I remove it and put it back in, it changes my description to the first. So my question is, is this a bug? If not, I don't see any problem in just removing it and putting it back in but it does not seem like that is the intended purpose.

Hope this helps if it is buggy!

Terra, it did it to me too, and since we're the only two that have them currently, I don't know what to tell you.

I couldn't think of anything I did to make it disappear, but it did, removing it and wearing it again made it re-appear.

I want to BUG it in game, but I don't even know how to describe it. I wasn't doing anything it just disappeared.

Thank you, Terra. That's the reason the shopkeeper let a couple of folk redeem orders for new haircombs early, so that we could get the bugs out and limit the screamers seen by the GMs.

I've passed the report onto GM Obseden, who's working on the features system, since the problem's somewhere in the interface between the combs and features (and since I'm at work today).

I'm glad you guys like the shop, by the way - I think it's nifty (and it'll be slightly niftier in Plat and TF, since there are more verbs for some of the items being sold in the other instances).

Concur. These shops are awesome, we could use more of them. It adds a lot more variety to the items we see in-game.

The only thing that sucks is the wait time on them. Is 4-10 RL days for an item really necessary? :\

I wish the birds you got from there had some verbs on them besides the wear/remove verbs. The shop is very nice. One request though...Can wedding bands be added to the custom items list?

I was impressed and very pleased to see most things in the shop affordable. I made a trip to price the custom hair combs and expected to pay many times as much as what it came out to. Kudos :)

Just got back after being on hold for a while and I love this shop! However...

It needs:

regular rings as well as friendship and engagement rings

ankle-cuffs (I really wanted to get a wide piece of ankle jewelry for my prydaen today and couldn't)

tailbands (again with the prydaen)

earrings (earrings to match my soon to be pendant)

And is it intended that there is no bronze for haircombs?

Even so, I just ordered three pieces there and am now impatiently waiting out the five days until they are ready.

Familiar-blocked rooms in Riverhaven on 03/09/2009 09:56 PM CDT

I've bugged this IG before, but I'm wondering if there's a reason this room (and several other rooms, at last check) are familiar-blocked. Just based on the room description, I can't think of anything off the top of my head. If there's no particular reason for it, can that be changed? If so, do you want a list of other rooms like this in the Riverhaven area?

[Riverhaven, Ring Road East]
The ring road meets the bitter end of the river road here at the point where the town wall runs out into the river to the brooding Eastern Tower. A commercial salt vendor dominates the area, white mounds of glittering crystals piled high like a miniature mountain range.
Obvious paths: north, south.
>perc
You reach out with your senses and see vague streams of Elemental energy coursing through the area.
You can sense that there is around the same mana to the south, and far greater mana to the north.
You feel something about this area will repel familiars.

::blinks!:: Huh?

Hmm- Was that room consecrated? That's the only thing I can think of that might block fams- and even that is a bit iffy.

Maybe, but from what I recall, it's been no-fam for years. I did a power-walk around the outskirts of town last night and didn't see any others, but I still need to do all the other roads. If I recall, there used to be 3 non-fam rooms in Riverhaven with no rhyme or reason to them that I could discern. I think at least one of them has been fixed, but I'll have to finish my power walk and scan old logs to be sure.

Either way, I figured I'd throw that one up there for now and see what happens. :)

Its been that way for years and years. Never could figure out why. The pierless inn courtyard used to be no fam as well but that was fixed. That one might have been a holdover from the days of the moon mage guild residing within. Ill take a look around town as well and see if I find more places.

Awesome.

Hey, Rehlyn, if you get a chance, shoot me an email at my usual address (or the play.net addy). I have a question for ya, since we don't seem to meet up IG as often. ;)

Since the manastorm struck, the life mana at the standard triage spot (the crate) is pretty bad. One of the better spots people have found is outside of the general store, Enfermine's Dry Goods. Can we petition the mayor of Riverhaven to move the crate and bench there? Or at least put a bucket there?

I'm sure they are very busy at the moment. I doubt the city really needs yet another crate or bucket too. Maybe we will get lucky and while they are readjusting guild mana they might do some tweaking in historic gathering places. If not, people who need foraging could always go find a bucket or if they need to just sit, they can go to one of the several inns in town.

I'd like to second the request for a crate. A bench would be nice.. But we really just need some form of trash bin by the general store. It seems to be one of the more popular places in Haven, and there's always a mess.

Not many folks train in the swamp because of the maze and overall difficult nature of getting in and, to some extent, out. You may consider a "guide" that could be purchased in town, give you a decent RT (to make travel still significant) and at a very high cost.

Just my thought after determining it was really a PITA to get in and out the other day.

It does keep the tourist traffic down

I would agree that the area is so underused, there are at most a few hunters in there at any time. Prolly for the sole reason of getting there can be annoying through the maze.

A guide sounds like a great idea.

It would be even better (to me) if you had to complete some sort of quest first (just once) before they'll take you. Just 'cause it would be more fun in my mind and force people to manually explore the area before they used a guide.

To enter the swamp, head eastish once you hit the maze until you get to the tree. Climb the tree, then go over to the swamp.

To leave the swamp, head westish from the tree until you get to the path.

I think there were plans for a Clerical backdoor for those who completed Rezz/MF. If that ever comes about I can see an NPC Swamp Shaman guiding non-Clerics for a fee.

Not just the Maze for me Mazrian, it is the:

1. Go to the altar, and do the puzzle thing.
2. RT going down.
3. Swim through the caves

The Maze is part, but geez...just a real PITA to get in and out.

Caelumia: I like that idea of doing some quest to get access to the guide.

Anyway....anything to make that place more player friendly.

Yeah the "maze" is the easiest part, hands down. What takes forever is wading through the caverns, getting across the rope bridge, going through the puzzles, etc.

They were talking about doing this for Clerics who had completed their Resurrection quest but I really see no reason why everyone should not have access to something like that. Maybe make it so Clerics with Resurrection don't have to do an extra quest. That seems fair to me.

Well while I would love a Cleric only access that was faster and better, I really am to the point where places that are a PITA to get into should have more readily access for folks who regularly hunt somewhere.

For fun I spoke with the stableboy...

A stableboy ponders for a moment before saying, "You know, I did hear an interesting tidbit from a customer. I heard a renowed weaponsmith mention that Kertig tears come from meteorites.
