You know, one thing that would help, from a cleric's perspective... more undead, either around Rossman's or on the Theren side of the lake. And get rid of that lethal RT at the end of the rope bridge. That was the primary thing that kept me away from Rossman's while I was in Theren.

Eh, I don't know so much about that, Pass. I've been up in Rossman's for varying lengths of time and usually just make a mad dash through peccaries doing perceive health on the critters/hunters. Now, that may be because I'm more limited than you in how far I can perceive, but that's never been an issue for me personally.
The problem I have with Rossman's is, basically, as far as empaths go, I'm either the ONLY ONE there (which means I get severe chest wound after severe chest wound after severe chest wound), or else there are 5-6 empaths there, mules or otherwise.
Aside from healing, there is jack squat that Nynnia can do in Rossman's, and if there's no one who wants her to heal them (because they have their own mule(s)), there's no point in her being there.
I've hung out in Rossman's for a few weeks at a time and at first, if it's busy, I always have fun, but soon I either feel overwhelmed from being the only actively healing empath, or I feel neglected by the horde of empaths sitting in the church.
The only suggestion I'd have for the hunters is this: if you can see that there are some active, non-mule empaths around, please utilize them rather than your mule. There is nothing more discouraging to me than sitting around waiting for someone to come in and ask me to heal them (since, again, I have nothing else to do while I'm there), and then have their own empath log in/jump out of hiding and heal them before I can bat an eye. While I know that sometimes there really ARE no active empaths around, seeing that happen time after time after time generally makes me say "Well, heck, why am I even here?" and then I go home.

I have to agree with Meghan.. I brought Dianelle to Rossman's specifically because I kept hearing calls for empaths and then found I had nothing to do and the empaths already at the church ignored her attempts to start up conversations so she went to Aesry instead.
Dianelle is not a mule either.. she was my very first character when I came back to DR. I just rarely play her. I'm willing to bring her back to Rossman's but I'd like to have a reason to actually spend what limited time I do have, having her awake and active.

If I could get about 100 more ranks of swimming, I'd be in Rossman's more. Easy for me to get there from Theren. But when I'm in Riverhaven, not as easy.
There is not enough to do in Rossman's to keep me there, though. I like dancing with orcs and warcats, but usually if I'm in the hunting grounds, tht's not where people like to go to get healed, and I'm not always wanting to leave the hunting area to go heal someone. Half the time when i do that, by the time I get to the church, someone has pulled out their mule.
Anyhow, I like the town, but I won't hang out in the church ::snore:: and it's not easily accessible from Haven so that's why you don't see this particular empath player there very often.
I hope to get those swimming ranks...one of these days...though.

I think it's just a sad state of affairs.
Nothing for empaths and clerics to do.
So they leave.
So people pull out their alts.
So when empaths and clerics do show up, there's nothing for them to do.
I think whenever the GMs plan a new zone, it needs to be done with everyone in mind. IE, Undead to hunt for the clerics, and something for the empaths to do when not healing people (I have no idea what, what DO you empaths do in your off time?).

This is a problem with every new city area that they have built over the last few years.
Throne City- SO much potential so little value. If the GMs don't want to put things like NPC healers or even herb sellers in a city then you really need to make it easy to acess the NPC healer from that city and a bardge ride from Throne to Haven is not easy.
Rossmans- just as folks have been talking about once again no healers and no easy way to get to Haven so it become more of a pain to live in then its worth.
Murspari- Another city which bites only because there are no a few simple things like a NPC healer awful hunting between spiders and whatever is next in line. You know that basics of what makes a good area good.
Horse Clan- Pain to get to no NPC healer and appearently it sounds like the Shearped runs out of herbs. The hunting is very dangrous due to ambushing critters mixed in the other hunting grounds that a young hunter could use. And on the top end you have the DP spell which makes you auto-depart I think. Just bad stuff.

Rossman's area on 03/09/2006 05:36 AM CST
I'm posting this for a friend, who was in the rossman's area the other day, was a few paces outside the gate to rossmans, when he got disconnected, he logged back in, and was inside the gate. Figuring he was safe, he logged out for awhile, and then logged back in later, only to find himself in the middle of orc reavers.... Is this normal?

Your friend might want to change his password- and this time make sure NO ONE gets it. I used to know a couple of players who would share their accounts- only the guys they shared with weren't really bright or responsible, and the chars ended up getting damaged one way or another. It was- to put it mildly- pathetic.

Actually, he's the only one with access to his account. His character wasn't logged in when he was gone. So... that was not the problem.

Then, it may be he is putting his character to sleep somewhere and then leaving him to log out after some time. Someone can come along and drag him during this time.

No, again, he logged out, except for the first time, when he was disconnected... I give up... I should never have started this thread. It just doesn't make sense, he typed "quit" and logged out while inside rossmans, and woke up in the middle of orc reavers... Nobody logged in his char, because I was in game, and would have noticed it. we've both been over all the other ways that it might have happened, and ruled them all out. The only thing we could think of is that rossman's is wanky.

Rossman's Landing and Langenfirth (Xpost from Boat folder) on 03/17/2006 01:15 PM CST
The Jantspyre River doesn't bother me... it could be a little bitty river and unsailable. Rossman's has a dock on Lake Gwenalion as does Langenfirth. And seeing as the Faldesu supposedly connects to Lake Gwenalion, I think Langenfirth and Rossman's should be approachable by player-owned boats. What say you, Danalae?

Ladders in Rossman's Landing? on 09/20/2006 10:34 AM CDT

Re: Ladders in Rossman's Landing? on 09/20/2006 12:55 PM CDT
There's a bunch of ladders in the outdoor keep area if you enter the north or south towers. The ladders to the roof are the hardest. They barely teach me unless I dedicate a lot of time with 190s in climbing. The other ladders teach great for young climbers and lock my friend's climbing with 70s climbing if he cycles through them for a bit. He still fails to climb the roof ladders at those ranks.

HAH I have.. extensivly. I didn't think those ladder taught anything. They didn't move my climbing past clear.
I have in the 350s which is probably why? I just thought they were route to a location didn't realize they taught. I think its 6 ladders total. 3 per tower. As I said.. I live in Rossmans and have since it was discovered.

whoa, nice climbing! The ladders don't teach well, but they're still great for weaker climbers.

Help Please, stuck in Rossman's Landing on 10/07/2006 07:06 PM CDT
I seem to be stuck in Rossman's Landing. After following a Ranger trail in to the Mistwood Forest, getting killed and severely mangled, I can not seem to find a way out of here. My wounds (mangled leg and chest areas) are keeping me from climbing and being able to take a Ranger trail back. Also, there does not seem to be many Empaths around to heal. I have been hanging around the dock, but have not seen anything. Are there any ferrys from here?
Any idea on how I can get back to Theren or Riverhaven? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Gating is the free option (usually, but don't be surprised if someone asks you to pay up), but failing that if you can get to the dock there might possibly be one of 6 rentable boats (1 gold each for an hour, I believe). Assuming you can rent one or find someone who can (and who cannot offer you some other service like a gate, help you across the overland route, healing, or simple charity), just sail it to Riverhaven, Theren, or Langenfirth.

Accusations abound of alleged grifting and other indiscretions on the part of Journeyman Maechlyn, rumored to be accepting bribes from residents and visitors alike. When asked, Maechlyn grunted and said, "Ain't done nothing wrong. Just took a few bronze from some... friends, and let em use our scales. Now get out of my shop and let me get some work done!"
