<<S'kra are warm-blooded.>>

Rather wish they'd put that in the race info page. :( Of course, back when I played that character, the race info page didn't exist.

I've always enjoyed my everyday outfit:

You are wearing a Dwarven mining cowl, a bronze jadeite gwethdesuan, a crude sluagh-hide eyepatch, a stone grey hooded longcoat with daggers stitched on collar and sleeves, a two-tailed jet-black lizard, a duffel bag, a ebony longbow, a hand-stitched traveler's pack, a billowing white silk shirt with wide dagged sleeves, a dark silk-edged tabard embroidered with twin crossed swords, some black hunting leathers, some thick leather gloves set with silver claws, a polished copper band, a black leather split-strap sword belt with silver inlays, a sturdy iron-studded black leather spellbook case, a greatsword sheath, some sleek leather pants with golden tracery, a black thigh pouch, a thigh quiver dyed in a brown and green camouflage pattern and some polished black leather boots with silver buckles.

notice the lizard...

and then for fancy occasions, an outfit I picked up in muspar'i (with some additions):

a grey silk cloak with a black velvet border and collar, a crimson leather hip belt fastened with an onyx buckle, a pair of soft black sheepskin boots embroidered about the cuffs with silver sigils, a pure white linen cravat pinned with a tiny garnet, a platinum chain baleora bearing a claw pendant with a green malachite ball in its taloned grasp, a sleeping ruby scorpion charm on an ebony spidersilk cord, a silver triquetra clasp, a gold on red brocade waistcoat with brass buttons, a high-collared red jacquard coat, a dashing black fedora with an engraved silver band, a full-sleeved white linen shirt with lace trim, some dark burgundy linen trews, a silver wristcuff inset with a large black opal engraved with the crest of the Warrior Mage Guild and a silver wristcuff inset with a large black opal engraved with the crest of the Warrior Mage Guild

of course, I would wear my fedora all the time if I could.

Cloaks and jackets can serve dual purposes, though, by keeping you warmer in cold weather and keeping the sun off you in warm weather. Yay silk.

And I wear normal shoes in summertime here in SoCal, so it's not unusual to wear boots year-round...

The sweater thing...a fluke because I haven't had time to change back into something cool. What can I say, I'm kind of lazy when I'm not near my vault.

I paid 100 plat for my formal wear and I've used it maybe twice.

However being able to look like a high-class hitman whenever you feel like it is nice.

>Wearing just the chemise around town (our poor impressionable children!) or going hunting in an ankle-length ballroom gown (now that takes skill!) does indeed pain me severely.

Actually I thought about it and asked Dio, my character who cares the most, and he said he does the same thing with all those clothes that he does in an inn ... takes 'em off, folds them, puts them to the side and then puts them back on when it's time to go. It just gets lost in the white noise, like the bathroom visits, clothes cleaning/retailoring/replacing, and other miscellanea of daily life.

If you read a book, if it's any good, you'll note a lot of daily life stuff left out. My characters do this with stuff too.

Oh, and I wear boots almost year round, except with shorts in summer, when it gets just way, way too hot. And when I was riding horses, it was never too hot to wear boots around them.

>I just wish they wouldn't look at me funny when I ask if we can get out of the rain and sit down inside somewhere.

Um, because regular gathering spots have pavilions that aren't good enough to keep the rain off instruments/spell books but keep the worst of the other weather off? Out hunting, none of the boys care much about the rain, but they do spend a lot of time on the Ratha green, and this, they said, was the solution. <shrug> More white noise that doesn't make it through to the page, I guess.

Ultimately though, whether it's a book, role playing game or even pure character improvisation, you have to leave stuff out, at least if you follow traditional style guidelines.

Since I was told I wore a lot of fluff I thought I'd share:

You are Wanderer Vanara Arcadias of Elanthia, a Halfling Ranger.
You have gold eyes. Your auburn hair is long and curly, and is worn in a simple, loose style. You have fair skin.

You are wearing a green crystal tikka shaped like a tiny arrow, a forrest-green cape, a ebony longbow, a target shield, a supple black leucro hide pack clasped with a gleaming silver fang, a lightweight green silk bodice with full elbow-length sleeves, a chain lorica, a simple pewter charm bracelet, a leather archer's cuff with the Ranger Guild crest hand-tooled across the back, a double-wrapped leather sword belt tooled with rampaging wild boars, a leather gem pouch, a tobacco pouch, a forest green suede hip pouch embossed with entwined ivy leaves, a scout's waterskin made from patchwork leather, some deep green leather leggings embossed with a subtle leaf pattern, a thigh quiver and a deep brown leather thigh bag with dangling hawk feathers.

The only thing she changes for summer and winter is her cape (when she remembers)- the green one for summer and a full length black one for winter; and she has a complete outfit for special occasions...

My mains hunting ooutfit, only a couple items carry over into her new formal outfit...

You are wearing a dusty black traveler's cloak embroidered with fierce S'kra warriors girded for battle, a smooth dragonwood ring wound with a thin strand of dragonfire amber, some ebon-cuffed S'kra hunting boots tied with multi-colored ribbon leather strips, a silver silk sash, a pair of distressed rugged black leather pants edged with sterling silver studs, a dark stained target shield, a visored chain helm, some mail gloves, some chain greaves, a reinforced cuirbouilli coat, a dusty black herbal pouch trimmed with tribal markings, a dusty black spidersilk harness studded with silver and splattered with dark stains, a wicked brand, a deep amethyst samite shirt with carved adderstone buttons, a black spidersilk pack clasped with an ancient silver buckle, a kyanite gwethdesuan and a jadeite gwethdesuan.

her current formal outfit, done to awesomeness by Countess Vanassa.. (sorry its in sorted order as its in my vault currently)

a deep amethyst samite shirt with carved adderstone buttons, a black spidersilk pack clasped with an ancient silver buckle, a kyanite gwethdesuan and a jadeite gwethdesuan (carryovers from hunting outfit)

a grey silk vest, some black kid gloves, a jet black velvet rose, a black silk tie, some loosely fitted pants of golden spidersilk embroidered with deep purple threads, a thin circlet of gold adorned with a deep purple amethyst, some burnished gold cufflinks forged to resemble miniature tomes, a carved ironwood ear cuff set with tiny steel thorns,
some polished black dress boots clasped with amethyst-studded buckles, a silvery spidersilk sash accented with golden trim, a gleaming gold tailband encrusted with deep purple amethysts in a sinuous design, a dark jade wedding tailband carved to resemble layers of scales, a moonstone wedding band set with a sunstone cobra and an amber boar, a long white hooded cloak lined with snowbeast fur and stitched with arcane symbols, a silver cloak pin engraved with the crest of the Warrior Mage guild, a smooth dragonwood ring wound with a thin strand of dragonfire amber, an ebony handkerchief of finely woven spidersilk streaked with golden threads (this is usually in her pack), a grey silk waistcoat (depends on weather & how formal event is, can be swapped with cloak &/or vest)

She used to swap between a couple different formal outfits if she had time to change, if the event was something she stumbled over while dressed for hunting, oh well. And she usually carries her leathers & a weapon in her pack, been at too many events that umm, turned deadly.
Her other outfits would be a dressy shirt, breeches, hose & boots, maybe a cloak or a coat & some sort of headcovering, or dressy shirt, pants, boots & a cloak. For my main I have over 3 different 'mules' that have stuffed vaults & on that acct thats a lot since its for a over 6th yr premie with extra space.
Jewelry tends to vary, course gweths & a pack are always on, only time she takes them off is to bathe & thats not for long, sometimes I'll rp a friend/servant standing there, holding her pack with all her stuff in it & listening to the gweth for her, got to love strong silent types sometimes. If my IG wife is around then that wont work as its way too playful to do that, hehhehehe.

Since she is s'kra, to see her wearing a cloak in the hottest of summer days isnt unusual, she will sit out in Muspar'i & bake in her cloak just to warm up if its wintertime down in the south end of the lands. Its all about how you want to play it, course if its raining it makes more sense to have some sort of cloak on, in RL I'll wear my wool cloak if its pouring out & I dont want to ruin my sca clothes, all depends on what one is wearing & yes, in RL I tend to be colder than others.

I personally like descriptive looks on characters, I always look at everyone I come across. It's an addiction for me and I just can't help myself. This is Celtar currently he does have other clothing for various looks or to modify his current look a bit. Ignore the infection I'm once again playing "beat the infection" , this will be the third time I've beat it. I assume some time later tonight itta be gone.

Just because I like the stuff I have tremendously... here's what my character normally wears. I have armor on, since it shows how his armor ties up with his boots and some of the other things he has on, sort of.

You are clean shaven.
You have a tattoo of two large intertwining snakes one with midnight black scales highlighted in silver and the other skeletal on your arm.
You are in good shape.

You are wearing a midnight black helm, a sprig of mistletoe, an ebonwood swashbuckler marionette, a brass pendant-orlog on a matching chain, an elegant black gentleman's greatcloak, a copper-banded maple short bow with a braided spidersilk bowstring, a supple black leather backpack with a silver skull clasp, a black wool captain's coat with gold braiding around the pockets, a dashing black dueling shirt with a shadow-lace ruffled neckline, some midnight black plate, some iron gauntlets crafted to resemble silvery-white skeletal hands, a carved black pick, a black leather hand-tooled highwayman's belt, a black leather split-strap sword belt with silver inlays, a painted flute case of blackened steel bordered with bones of myriad sizes, a desiccated ur hhrki'izh bone spellbook case festooned with shamanic clusters of wren feathers, some black dueling pants with an embroidered silver dragon coiling up the right leg, some midnight black greaves, a tooled thigh sheath and some midnight-black steel-toed war boots with sigils burned into their sides.
