Just an important message that we seem to have to remind people of every so often:

Don't put things you want to keep on the ground.

Janitor mechanics notwithstanding, if you somehow got disconnected, the items would be just as "gone" as if the Janitor grabbed them.

If you want it and if you value it, don't ever put it on the ground.

This especially means don't drop a backpack on the ground and log in an alt, thinking that the split second between the time one character logs out and the new one logs in (even in the same room!) will "protect you" from losing the items.
