Hello!
I am pleased to announce the re-release of the Stocks system under "new" Justice, creatively codenamed "Stocks 2.0".
You will find that stealing low-valued items (regardless of weight) and thus racking up low-level warrants / potential fines will now send you to the stocks instead of giving you a fine... IF you are in the Crossing or nearby areas. Stocks are not currently turned on anywhere else in the game. Also, the judge will not give you an option; it's more of a question of which he/she feels will be more likely to rehabilitate you...
There is a new option once you reach the stocks that has never been seen before; this new feature shall remain PAFO for a few days. It is something you can do, and pretty obvious after you end up in the stocks. Thief's and Trader's have a small boost to doing this new thing.
This should help new characters quite a bit in their shoplifting endeavors.
Please be advised again that this is only turned on in the Crossing and nearby areas. We plan to release something in RiverHaven (at the very least) eventually to enable stocks there such that both "starting towns" have this feature to the benefit of new players / characters. Note that, however, moderately experienced characters may very well go the stocks, depending on what you end up stealing or how many warrants / potential fines you rack up before turning yourself in or getting found out by the local guards.
Don't forget about SURRENDER GUARD if you want to turn yourself in and don't forget that learning from heavier but lower-valued items will still get you in the stocks due to the value (and thus fine) involved.
Yes, the urchin and the tomatoes/snowballs should work just fine.
As a side note, Hibbles Justice was updated (messaging only) to be more specific to that region. (Stocks are still not enabled there.)
This has been in platinum for over a week, with a few minor bugs fixed. I haven't seen any issues is quite a few days, but please post if you notice any problems.
The rest of the information about this is pretty much PAFO, at least for a while.
Now live in Prime and The Fallen.
