To those of us who play DR on laptops, what do you do to move around in the absence of a numpad? I'm used to using Stormfront and have a Dell Latitude 14 if exact keyboard anatomy's a factor. Do you just hook up a secondary keyboard, and if so, how do you override the original? I cooked up a cockamamie alternative macro set just to get around, but since the "North" keys are separated from the rest of the directional pad by a good three key rows, it's inelegant to say the least and has me slowly waddling about town like my characters have rickets. If anyone could share with me their macro scheme or any other advice, I'd really appreciate it!

For my laptop I purchased a small USB keypad for ~$10. Works great for movement, is small and easy to carry around.

i just got used to hitting the N, S, E... keys on the laptop keyboard, it seems natural to me now. i tried the keypad but don't like carrying extra things, sort of defeats the purpose of having a laptop for me.

I largely use my automap to move me around. So it's a small script. For example:

>.goto "Crossing bank"

For minor movements I just type in n, s, e, etc.

I used to use the arrow keys when I had my full size keyboard, now I also use the n, e, w when moving if not using automapper. You do end up getting used to it, though its obviously not as fast.

Hahha - when I started playing, you couldn't use the arrow keys on the keyboard, so it's a habit I never picked up. I just use n, s, e, w - after a bit of practice, it's totally natural. And I don't have to remove my fingers from the "home row" to do it!

Laptop player here with no numpad. Movement scripts do the long-distance travel, once you memorize the layout of certain specific routes (like from Xing bank to Xing Empath guild) it's just as fast to type it in manually.

Uzmam! The Chairman will NOT be pleased to know you're trying to build outside of approved zones. I'd hate for you to be charged the taxes needed to have this place re-zoned. Head for the manor if you're feeling creative.
