Fixed that for you.

I stocked up on favours during the week in anticipation of a weekend playing assassins, but after two DEPART ITEMs immediately with no rejuve, I lost around 20% off my top skills, which meant evasion, hiding and others all deranked. I didn't realise the loss was so great, especially after all the time it took to get those extra favours in the first place.

When you say this do you mean you lost 20% of the ranks or 20% of a rank?
e.g. if you had 100 ranks, did you:
a) lose 20 ranks
b) lose 0.20 ranks
I assume it's b because a would be preposterous.

It was up to 20% off several ranks. I had ranked a few skills earlier, evasion for example was 428 07% and dropped to 427 88%. Perception at almost 400 had a similar drop, and hiding deranked after losing I think 14%. It wouldn't be so bad but it takes inordinately longer to regain those %s than it does to lose them.

>>why not?<<
Exactly. You willingly engage in an activity that is going to result in your death. If anything, perhaps the memory loss and/or penalties should be more severe. But since there are usually empaths and clerics around to fix the wounds/death pieces, it shouldn't really be an issue at all.

Just to be clear - I didn't do it. Not sure who did, but it wasn't me.
