i've been asking around and i found out that people usually keep disc higher than int and wis
i.e. disc 30 int 26 wis 26...
i thought that wis should usually be the highest stat amongst mentals...
is there an advantage to keeping disc higher than the others...

depends on what you're shooting for. My discipline is a lot higher on both of my mains because they have concentration based abilities and also on my empath because her main hunting safeguard is innocence which is WvW. So really, it's going to be based a lot on your needs and play style.

Thieves will continue to be dominated by the awesome power of the perceive health ability - that which causes rivers to dry up, babies to cry, and the earth to shake.

<<i should keep disc higher than the other two stats...?
I would say that most people train disc higher than the other two simply because Discipline tends to have more uses than either wisdom or intelligence.
Disc helps with reducing stuns, fatigue?, burden, concentration, magic (both offensively and defensively), slightly (minimally) with learning, magic resistance, etc etc
Last time I was a barbarian disc helped greatly with roars, dances, and berserks... though that was a few years back so I'm not sure how much if any it affects each of those, but I would wager it still does a great deal for them in terms of strength and/or duration.
All that being said, disc is not necessarily the best stat to train. As it has been stated many times, "it depends." And it does. It depends on the results you seek and how you train your character.
I'm sure there are others with more precise info on this matter, but I saw this went unanswered for a while so thought I'd give you at least something to go on and maybe stir up the thread a bit.

Disc is highly important for barbarians or thieves (non magic guilds with boosters). It is less so important in the long run of magic using guilds, who see the effects of intelligence/etc in their formulas. That said disc seems to always do 'something' regardless of what you play, just not maybe so much for guild X compared to guild Y.

Actually, discipline plays a huge role in TM calcs, along with agility. Discipline is also quite important in hiding and skinning calcs. Pretty much across the board, all my characters have discipline as their highest or second highest stat.

Also, I can shoot bees.

Depends entirely on what types of spells you primarily use.

I never said it WASNT important for magic using guilds, but it does not play the role it does for thieves or barbarians. For thieves for instance, discipline (via concentration) is the sole variable in how long our khris last and how powerful they are (something magic guilds can accomplish via PM ranks and mana). If a low disc say, lowered the maximum cap and duration a warrior mage could get from sure footing, that would be a somewhat similar role.

If you're a roaring berserker train Charisma and keep your Discipline a good deal lower than your physicals (strength, agility, reflex). Charisma is significantly factored into roars, Discipline reduces the duration of Berserks.
