If this isn't the right time to discuss something like this then no biggy, we can continue to do other testing and just let this thread die; however, I really think there needs to be a way for a player to choose which beneficial spell on another player they want to dispel, rather than it just targetting the top-most layer.
Even spells such as Rend or any of the other double-dispel spells are subject to the following macro.
prep ease;cast;prep lw;cast
What the above macro does is... In an instant without any RT it casts both Ease Burden and Lay Ward. These go to the very top of all of the active spells, so if someone tries to dispel anything on a person that uses this macro they now have to go through these two layers first.
With this one simple macro, I or anyone else has totally defeated both the Dispel spell when used against another player, and also any of the advanced Dispel spells that dispel 2 of an opponent's spells.
Anyone could use this macro and all of a sudden it is impossible to dispel anything on them that actually matters. Even if I prepare Dispel at 100 mana and cast it at someone who uses this tactic, it will only take off the very top spell even if that spell was prepared and cast at 1 mana.
So, rather than Dispel only targeting the top-most layer spell of another player I'd like to be able to actually specify which spell on another player I want to try dispel. That way the other person can't just snap cast a bunch of garbage spells to protect their more powerful buffs.

I'm uncertain if it'll happen, but I have considered retooling dispels to just completely obliterate spells below a certain percentage of its Potency and keep going.

Not sure what that actually means in play but it sounds like it'll fix the problem of snap casting garbage spells to negate Dispels, so A+ IMO.

Even if that's not the route you decide to go with, I'm glad you're at least thinking of other ways to do it. The dynamic of Warding and Dispel spells adds so much potential to make things strategic and fun, I'd hate for something so silly as snap casting garbage spells to totally ruin that dynamic.

I don't understand exactly how those mechanics work either, but I completely agree with Leilond's support of that idea: throwing up two quick crap buffs to bypass a dispel is no good.

Totally.
