So far...
Feats gained on log-in worked for me, didn't count against spell slots.
Couldn't test forgetting - Ozursus said I lacked enough coin to do it, but didn't say how much was needed. And his statement about not having enough money didn't have a close-quote.
If all feats cost only 1 spell slot, something odd happened. I couldn't get a spell to prep so I thought maybe I had to learn it first, and when I tried to choose one before getting the global preview message, a message popped up saying there was a problem and it was fixing my spellslot total to 1 less than what I had.
Also, I can't seem to get my alternate prep to work? I have "You lick the tip of your finger and trace a sigil in the air, the design of the Summon Death Monkey spell showing just faintly enough for you to see." but always get a message saying I can't use a silent preparation. I took Legerdemain and Illusory Preparations, but don't see one for silent spells (Subtle Preparations?).
Glad for Raw Channeling to be out. Having to choose to hold mana for an enchante was just... odd. These should be fun, though. Good options.

Plan on testing this later today. Quick question -- Was it posted somewhere what the finalized spell slot formula is? Like how many slots Primary will have vs Secondary vs Tertiary?

only 2 errors I've found so far <with necromancer tester>
Ask ozur about Magic Theorist
An azure acanth tree dims dramatically as the last leaf slowly drifts to the ground, leaving the once-lush branches barren.
No response, no indictation of the question
>ask ozur about silent preparation
Ozursus concentrates a moment and then says, "Oh yes, I know of that. Training with Silent Preparation allows the magician to leanr preparations that are easier to conceal."

Primaries and Secondaries start out at 1 per circle. Tertiaries start at 1 every 2 circles.
Secondaries slow down to 1 every 2 at 20th.
Primaries slow down to 1 every 2 at 50th.
Everyone slows down to 1 every 3 at 100th.

Asking about Magic and Magic Theorist should now be fixed.
The trainer will give a cost when you do not have enough coin now.

Raw Channeling things.
1) No message about it drawing mana each pulse like when you're holding mana. I'm assuming it's intentional, because I'm sure it could get annoying. Personally, I'd rather a toggle to turn it off for both.
2) It looks like you spend mana on the cast itself, too, even though nothing tends to happen on that opening cast. Not sure if that's connected to raw channeling, a wonky thing about cyclics as a whole, or intentional.
Efficient Channeling things.
1) A min prep USOL was taking 7% each pulse from me, and now it's taking 6%. Just wanted to make sure that's the intended amount of difference.

Not sure if Deep Attunement should give any kind of visible boost.
You reach out with your senses and see pale (7/21) streams of plain Commoner pudding sitting in the area.
Letting your senses extend further, you feel there is lambent (12/21) mana to the southeast, flickering (8/21) mana to the east, and glowing (11/21) mana to the north.
Roundtime: 3 sec.
Ozursus focuses intently at you and says, "Well then, let us begin." You are led off to the side and Ozursus explains the specific nuances required to properly utilize this new skill. A slight headache grips you when finished, but you are otherwise unharmed.

bug with CH - gives room messaging as having ridges without being cast.
paladin, cleric, and moonmage were told feats but were unable to learn them.
learning rate was an issue for utility with necro also. ROC was rather difficult to cast, even for a cyclic spell and with the proper feat learned.
young gryphons didn't die easily to blb, even with 372 TM, although they were killed with 2he at 322, and in regular hunting are much easier to kill. they seemed to dodge it moreso.

Any chance we'll ever be able to have something like the output we get to see for combat moves, where it gives certain info over how SLICE works and whatnot? Just as an example of what I'd love to see...
>SPELL PV
NAME: Petrifying Visions
TYPE: Debilitation
CHECK: Mind versus Will
BATTLE: Yes
MIN: 5
MAX: 100
IC DETAILS: The Petrifying Visions allows the caster to channel energy into their opponent's mind. If successful, the spell taps into the primal fears and uncertainties about life that reside deep within the mortal mind. The end result causes the victim to be paralyzed until they can reconcile and repress what they saw.
OOC DETAILS: Immobilizes target.

I would love something like that, Tev. Heck, make it only display certain information depending on a combination of how many ranks you have in that branch of magic (Debil, Augment, etc) factored in with Scholarship or something if displaying all that info for no skill check is a no-no.

ok, testing with a moon mage who is a member of crystal hand.
in prime she knows 3 spell preps - default, sect prep, and a special from Throne city.
I had her learn the following feats in addition to the two she had from being a MM; <basic prep recognition & utility mastery>:
Legerdemain, Alternate Preparation, and Illusory Preparation.
She was then able to use her Throne city prep :
Current Selection is now: "Your eyes darken to black as a starless night as you prepare the Summon Death Monkey spell."
however, she was unable to use the sect prep:
Default spell prepare is ON, making that your current choice.
You can also use: "You raise one hand before you and concentrate on forming the Summon Death Monkey spell pattern."
and received the following messaging when trying to do so:
>prep cv
You don't know enough about the technique behind spell mnemonics to use a silent preparation.
which feat would enable this? these are the additional feats he offers:
The trainer looks you over and says, "Well now, you are eligible to learn the feats of Advanced Lunar Recognition, Advanced Holy Recognition, Advanced Elemental Recognition, Advanced Life Recognition, Advanced Arcane Recognition, Faster Targeting, Faster Battle Preparations, Faster Matrices, Faster Rituals, Focused Preparation, Augmentation Mastery, Debilitation Mastery, Targeted Mastery, Warding Mastery, Improvised Rituals, Cautious Casting, Injured Casting, Deep Attunement, Raw Channeling, Efficient Channeling, Efficient Harnessing, Cautious Harnessing, Improved Memory and Magic Theorist.

hmm, ok, that would make sense.
Will there be some sort of listing of all the feats and the requirements of same once we hit release? That would be a good guide.
Additionally - there was talk that barbarians would be able to learn feats <such as telling what spell someguy was prepping> - although would be penalized for doing so. None of my NMUs were able to learn feats. So is this something that is going to be added on once barbs/ thieves get their own version of magic?

Ozursus concentrates a moment and then says, "Oh yes, I know of that. Specialized training increases the magician's capability with Debilitation magic."
Does this enhance your ability to win in the stat vs stat contest? Or is this basically just a permanent Debilitation skill buff? Does this have any real benefit if you already have 1100 Debilitation?

Sweet. I remember reading that skills were designed to scale up to 900ish ranks give or take. Once you're at 1100 ranks, is there any benefit to having more skill in things like Debilitating, Augmenting, etc? Like does having more skill allow you to reach full prep faster or reduce your chances of backfiring or something post 1000 ranks?

Re: Magical Feat Testing on 06/10/2012 10:22 AM CDT
It won't let you reach full prep faster, but you'll be able to cast at lower prep times with higher mana. The ~1000 rank roof is for casting an Esoteric at the cap with full prep.

If you learn ALL the feats, the trainer returns a blank instead of telling you "you've learned them all, there's no more I can teach you" like Guildleaders do with spells, thus:
