I had a Heart Link on someone last night and he was missing some vitality, but the spell wasn't pumping my vitality into him at all. I was getting the periodic "your heart beats all funny-like" message (I forget the wording at the moment...), so I know the spell was active. It just wasn't doing the vitality thing. I was able to heal him via transference, so it shouldn't be an AVOID thing or anysuch, and he wasn't a Necromancer.

How much vitality was he missing? How much were you missing (if any)?
The spell only brings people up to 70% vitality -- basically stabilizes them if they start to get too low. If their vitality is much higher than that, they become a candidate for donation rather than a recipient, provided they're eligible (not in combat, etc.)
