I was ready through some of the posts in this folder to pass time on a long boat ride when I saw one that stated being around mages when they cast causes our inner fire level to decrease. I hadn't heard this before and can't for the life of me understand why the powers-that-be would do this since it seems like it would cause barbs to not want to group as much, as there are so many Elanthians waging there fingers.
They may be out-of-date, but I've seen stats indicating that citizens are relatively evenly spread throughout the guilds(give or take a few percentage points)which would mean that barbs would not want to group with roughly 60% of the players. That's in theory, of course; a barb could always choose to play with a caster regardless of the loss to inner fire.
That said, my question is: exactly how important is inner fire? I was away from Elanthia for a few months this past winter and spring so I may have missed some changes, but I've never seen any noticeable effect of inner fire on my abilities. To put it bluntly, what good is it? Am I missing something or is it a pointless ability. I hope this makes sense; it's really late and I'm really tired :)

Heh, you should pay more attention to the other folders, especially the one title GM Announcements. There is a great IC reason as to why BMR works the way it does. The fact is though, that is seems a little weak to some spells and when BMR is overwhelmed by the magic, it harms some of our IF. We would like to be able to go to an empath for healing instead of relying on herbs a lot (though that is acceptable, and usually what I do) so that we don't get our IF tanked.
