Here's some ideas that have come up in the past and some i kinda been thinking about now, wondering of feasability once core mechanics of barbarian skills are handled. As well as player's reactions/ideas. Also, all these meditations should run on IF and be a replacement to dancing and or berserking (more options people!) Also, I believe meditations should become more powerful as you increase in circle.
Impenitrable Force (circle 20 meditation)
This meditation would allow your mind to overtake your body. You would not only feel but believe you were more powerful than you perhaps normally are.
Bonus: 1% increase in armor protection per 10 circles.
Ahlen Fury (circle 50 meditation)
It was said that bruce lee had so much kenetic energy transfered per attack that you could literally feel the impact of his attack without him ever having to strike you.
Bonus: Reduce RT attacks (if already at min. RT, double hit per attack60th)
Bonus: Agility/Reflex Bonus
Guard (30th)
It's an undesputed fact that Barbarians are the Masters of Weaponry. The also include their defense using it. This meditation would decrease the RT for parrying.
Bonus: Decreased RT for parry every 30 circles (30th = 3rt, 60th = 2rt, 90th = 1rt)
Disciple of the Dance
This meditation would require no IF but would take away your ability to meditate anything else for a time. It would in escence be a discipline booster, allowing you to get more out of your dance.
Bonus: Increase in Discipline
Bonus: More powerful/longer dances
Padwan of the Berserk (hehehe)
This meditation would require no IF but would take away your ability to meditation anything else for a time. It would in escence be a berserk booster, allowing you to get more out of your berserk.
Bonus: Longer and more powerful berserks
Bonus (60th): Multi hit combos (slice gob, = a very fast draw and slice in 1 attack, so like a dual hit)
Weapon Master
This meditation would give that ever so long awaited bonus to using a weapon rather than just learning a weapon. Bonus would mean your 20 ranks in LE might act like 30 (or more), but still would be able to learn in the 20 rank hunting areas.
Bonus: Bonus to USING weapons.
Bonus range: 1 rank every circle. Ie: 10th circle = 10 extra ranks. 100th = 100 extra ranks.
Resistance Specialist
This is for that barbarian that feels his magic resistance is his only true form of defense against those vile mages. This meditation would boost your overall BMR per circle.
Bonus: Increase to your overall BMR. 1% every 10 circles.
This is all I could think up atm. Hope ya like em, I don't think too many of them are overpowered. I think their circle reqs fit their need. Remember, meditations would take the use of dances/berserk by using IF unless otherwise stated.

But seriously (Trying desperately to keep on topic to avoid board moderator's wrath), maybe meditations should be something unique. Something often done. Maybe some kind of pre-combat preparation thing. Sit on a bench somewhere and meditate, the longer you meditate the greater the benefits. It could increase everything to a slight degree, maybe cap it to an hour long meditation for the best results. You'd get slightly increased combat ability in everything for a certain amount of time, more resistance to stunning, better defence, better offence, you know, being prepared and in the best mental and physical condition for combat you possibly can. Just an idea.

I really like the idea of meditation as something to do in order to prepare for combat. With one exception, I believe that because of the link of barbarians and weapons it would be nice to be able to meditate to do something for forging. But more resistance to stunning seems to be one of the best ideas as far as fitting in with the Guild. I also would like to see the meditation tied in a little bit with BMR. If you have a Barbarian in a room focusing on burning his inner fire the best way possible to produce the higher BMR possible it would be interesting to play with, at the very least. Maybe the increase would stay around for a while afterwards for hunting.

We're still hashing out ideas for meditations. The latest was that meditations, like roars, will be effect-based rather than bonus-based. So to use old examples, a meditation would slow the effect of poison/bleeding on vitality. Or, a meditation would allow a Barbarian with the proper stats & skills to dual-load, without having to have Eagle Dance going.
Nothing's set in stone yet, though since Dances and Berserks will be bonus-based, we're a bit leery of adding another system that'd provide yet more of the same bonuses. We'll see how it turns out.

Not 100% sure what the difference of effect-based and bonus-based, but I like the idea of a meditation to slow down the effect of poison/bleeding on vitality, and I guess I can see other areas where meditation would fit in on that. I figure that with more roars being effects on others, meditations would be effects on self. But I think it would be interesting to see a meditation that has an effect on others in the room.

Would a meditation that increases armor absorbtion and protection(the fabled iron skin that keeps cycling through suggestions) be considered an effect, or a bonus?
Is a balance boost considered an effect or a bonus? If an effect, can we do away with swan dance and get it as some sort of stability meditation? That would be such a great thing to use in conjunction with badger dance, hell any dance.
How about increasing weapon balance/suitedness, bonus or effect?

>>Not 100% sure what the difference of effect-based and bonus-based
effect-based: gives a whole new unique 'thing'. ie: dual-load, poison resistance, fear resistance.
bonus-based: gives +X to something. ie: +10 strength, +50 multi, +5% stance points.

>>Would a meditation that increases armor absorbtion and protection(the fabled iron skin that keeps cycling through suggestions) be considered an effect, or a bonus?
Problematic, above all else, because there's no way to properly stack armor (thus allowing toughened skin as an effect, but rather requiring a bonus to be applied to worn armor, from a meditation).
>>Is a balance boost considered an effect or a bonus?
Good question. More of an effect than a bonus, but that doesn't mean there won't be any overlap at all. Like I said, we're still hashing things out.

Unnoticed.. not hidden but standing in plain sight. Using our inner fires, we deflect the attention of people trying to look at us. We are there, standing right in frount of them but they pay us not attention. This could be based on cricle, charisma and disc vs theirs.

So would a possible effect-based proposal dealing with meditation be something that allows for our weapons to harm uncorporeal undead? Not asking to step on the toes of Clerics or anything, so many it would come with a slight penalty as well.

What about a meditation that speeds up the affects of herbs? I self heal unless ive had some organs removed rather violently (or i am loaded with treasure!), and I spend a lot of time waiting around for wounds to close, or bruises to scar over. Maybe a meditation that sped up that time a bit? Dunno if its feasible, just a thought.

I believe they're going to get that as an...innate bonus? Though how exactly the whole herb ranger/empath interaction is going to work I don't know. Also as herbs will not be able to say....replace a limb after they're changed I don't see a meditation of this type as a real sticky issue.
