>med inner fire
>You close your eyes and focus your energies on centering your body with the fire within.
>Your deep meditations leave you fast asleep!
Instant inner fire refill, with an after effect akin to a sleeper trap. Will have to wake and wait a good deal to get back up.
>med sabre
>You stare intently at your sabre. You begin to feel an innate bond with this weapon.
Short bonus to the weapon meditated upon. 1/4 of IF drained.
>med health
>You must be sitting down to properly meditate!
>sit
>You sit down.
>med health
>You close your eyes and focus your energies on slowing your body's functions, attempting to aid in the healing process.
Slows bleeders, very small bonus to herbal healing. 1/4 IF drain.
>med life
>You meditate on the mysteries of life, the paths we take, the paths not taken.
Heh, no real effect. But a fun fluff meditation.
Discuss!

Good ideas right up to the point where they use 1/4 inner fire. The more skills we hang on inner fire, the less of it we'll have to go around.
It does little good to have 64 different skills if we can only use 4 of them at any time due to the fire requirements. And all the other guilds will scream and cry about how we have 64 things, just as much as if we could stack them like they can.
Just one Barb's opinion.

The IF drain suggestion comes from my mindset on abilities. To me, abilities can provide a great benefit, but should also have some sort of drawback to them, so as to provide for "balance" which seems to be a magical buzz word for bonusing abilities.
If you all can think of another downside to any of them, other than IF hits, throw em out there. When B-Team gets back to coding stuff for us, the more abilities suggestions we have out there, the more ideas we're going to be giving them.

I would like to see meditations as a way to spend inner fire out of combat on things that we can later use in combat in addition to the fire we have regained in the meantime.
Does that make sense? Basically you "store" a skill for later use by investing the fire through a meditation in a peaceful, tranquil place, then you can "spend" it later in combat without an additional hit to inner fire.
The skill could be a meditation to resist damage, purge disease (boiling blood via inner fire?), evade better, increase will, close a wound, or whatever, but it would not require fire to use it - just to store it.

Gruesome,
You and I seem to be on the same line of thinking there as far as out of combat use of IF to give us an edge in later combat. Altho, I do like the use of concentration as well, as long as it doesn't make us seem too mage-ish.

Just like with using a gweth (although it does not 'reduce' concentration) and an empath taking wounds (those are the couple quickies I could think of), it could use our concentration which slowly builds up. The higher the concentration, the longer you can meditate.

Use of concentration to me is mage-ish because concentration is a main ingredient in magicks as well as the stuff that Raydell mentioned.
It could work, using concentration like that. Tho, outside of gwething, I don't see what other uses we barbs have for concentration. So, in effect, the downside of a concentration drain for us would be no gwething for X amount of time (along with no or limited additional meditations).
