I was in a group tonight and tried roar area hiss and not only did it make critters flee it made a grouped member flee as well. Tested further and it only happens when I'm not the leader and it won't affect the leader just others that are joined. Only two roars that did this was slash and hiss and it hit everyone in the group besides the leader. Did not affect anyone when i was leader. Could be other roars that work this way that i do not have.
