Only tried cobra against a creature. A previous poster mentioned he was using wolverine. I'd suspect dragon. Not sure about panther.

looks like same old 9 seconds with panther

6 seconds with cobra, I'm gonna guess its just those for now.

wonder if berserks are gonna allow for a quicker engagement too now?

You all need to check it out with a certain dance. Really good stuff.

I'm not sure about the purpose of the roundtime, using swan seems like quite the limitation already and it still allows instant retreat.

I'm not sure if being engaged to a person earlier changed the results, but I saw zero change in my advancement time with any other dance.

I'm not seeing really any faster advancing either, and I tried eagle, wolverine, and dragon. I didn't try cobra yet, and the roundtime on swan seems silly. Let's be honest, we're obviously going to compare it with the thieves ability, and considering we're "combat masters" or "melee combat masters" the changes really don't seem that great.

Then don't use it. If you don't see the merit in the ability and understand why there is a roundtime then I am pretty sure nothing I am willing to do is going to meet your standard of "awesomeness."

Wow that is a very bitter post coming from a GM. My point is, defensive dance + jump to pole (with roundtime) negates any chance of charging unless the person getting advanced on can't type "ret" within 3 seconds. The thief ability obviously works. Lots of thieves use it, and love it. I am just saying I don't really get the point of ours. Can you give me a situation where it will actually help to dance swan instead of badger, cobra, wolverine or dragon?

yeah dude, when you wanna smash as many critters as quickly as possible and already outlclass them in every other way, use swan. 3 seconds to melee instead of 9, 3-9 seconds to kill, off to find new critter.

Farming creatures is frowned upon. I don't think they would have created an ability to help farm creatures more easily.

In regard to advance + charge ... you just explained why there is a roundtime.

As for "ret within 3 seconds" ... welcome to DR.

I just don't understand why an ability which cannot be used in hiding means it gets a 3 second roundtime (and that same ability is defensive and cannot be stacked) while an ability that can be stacked and must be used in hiding does not get roundtime.

It seems like different side of the same coin but that is not how the combat team is treating them.

I know this is a stupid question for a barbarian that is almost 60 but what does swan do? I know its a balance boost and now missle to melee in 3 seconds. Are there any other benefits to it?

I don't mind the 3 second rt for the near instant melee, I think 3 seconds is more then a fair trade but I was kinda bummed its on a dance that I have never found any reason to use. I would find it a lot more useful to have the leap on something like badger or wolverine but I guess it starts to get overpowered then.

I was saying how I would find the leap to pole much more useful on cobra, wolverine, or badger. Its still pretty awesome on swan even if its more situational.

I have noticed faster advancements with wolverine and cobra. Maybe 2-3 seconds quicker.Looks like 9 seconds normal and about 6-7 while dancing wolverine or cobra. Not sure but the bonus might be negated if the creature is advancing towards you as well. I am also really tired so I could be imagining it.

I have to say, I agree with Navak. If thieves can advance to pole instantly in hiding (an inherently more difficult task), barbarians shouldn't get gimped with roundtime.

Sorry to be critical, but it DOES sound like we got the short end of the stick - I remember when the Khri Rewrite came around and all Khri went on preview. Shadowstep was awsome. It can, at high enough circle, be mixed with whatever other Khri you want to mix it with. Keeps you in hiding, too. Supposedly if you do it right you can literally instantly hit someone with AMBUSH SLASH if using a pole-ranged weapon.

I'm curious why 'zerking or dancing Barbs (even with just certain dances or berserks) aren't allowed an insta-pole ability as well. Even if it doesn't let us hide, it would be nice.

Dear god please don't turn into the Rangers here. Something comes our way and we complain it into the ground.

Make your posts constructive in their criticism. Discouraging a GM by saying these changes are "gimp" or "weak" or "lame" really don't do anything to help the situtation.

I fell asleep after the changes were pulled but for the brief time I did test I saw cobra zip me to melee on an Adan'f insanely fast. I'll have to try with Swan later this evening. I'll post my thoughts then.

Thanks Aurdrun, Jaed and Ssra! <3

I agree, Aurdun hasn't even given his follow up post about all the changes and the ability was only out for an hour and people are whining its gimped. I don't think a "gimped" ability/spell has ever just been left in place. It at the very least gets slated to be changed. In fact, this was an obvious attempt to make one of the least useful barbarian abilities(swan) more useful. I also think we got a free bonus 2-3 second advancement on a couple dances. When you start adding bonuses to cobra and wolverine which were already useful, thats pretty awesome.

Ok doing some testing this morning using

I ran these a few times each just to make sure I was getting consistent results.Whatever mojo I had last night seems to be gone. Oh no!

zero lag this morning

Whatever changes were affecting Dragon/Cobra/Wolvering last night seem to have been undone. I am pretty sure (it was late) I was getting the bonus from Dragon.....
