Well, I'm a young 11th circle Barb, soon to be 12th I hope. Tog like it says, hoping ta make my way thru the world and get to a respectable level fairly quickly.

Strength : 21 Reflex : 12
Agility : 15 Charisma : 10
Discipline : 13 Wisdom : 12
Intelligence : 14 Stamina : 16

55 parry
52 MO
50 2HE
47 HE
48 Leather
46 Evasion
35 Shield

My problem is, no matter where I hunt if I get more than 2 or a sustained swarm - I WILL die. period. I've been in Reavers this circle fighting and every single trip I have to Berserk Stone just to survive those times when i have a reaver and hound on me and two hounds suddenyl come in. The problem now is that if the swarm intensifies I have no option to leave. I will slowly be killed.

Now, I'm asking for two fold advice.

1st - training. I've been boosting mentals only for about 8 levels and I think my physicals are lacking now. Namely Reflex, Stamina, and Agility. I wouldnt mind more strength either just to the reduce the 9s RT on my Axe and 7s RT on my claymore.

2nd - Hunting Advice. Namely, somethign that will teach me well and hopefully give me a bit o spending cash. I try and keep my defenses up with my weapons but Reavers/Hounds seem hazardous to my healthand dying REALLY slows down circling.

Any advice is appreciated and I thank you all for takign the time to read this.

Keep training mentals, get intel and wisd to about 18ea then do the same with reflex and agility. As for what to hunt, beisswurms.. watch out they do swarm.. the slow room is W and SW of the rope. But if there aren't alot of people there just stay in the room with the rope. They are up the trail at the stone clan trader's outpost.

I would suggest beisswurms also. You can also learn climbing between the critter arrivals. I would also suggest reflex and agility. The former will help you dodge and the latter will help you hit stuff. As a Tog though stamina and strength are cheap. Easy to train and stamina will help mitigate some stuns.

Although you probably wont learn ur primary weapon there I'd recommend spending some time getting ur defenses and armor upto to 60. Might as well pick up some other edges while ur at it in the meantime. A great critter to use for this that swarms well and doesnt deal much damage is Grass Eels. (dont let MO fall to the wayside trust me) Afterwards yes I'd agree with everyone else.

Typical Critter progression Ive used with my characters is.
Frogs, Goblins/Cougars/Eels, Beis, Wolves, Silver Leucs, Kha'hei Hatchlings/Snoblins/Swains, Small Island Peccs, Mriss Caracals, Adult Kra'Hei/Bristleback Peccs .....

I would throw creepers and vines in between Silver Leucs and Kha'hei Hatchlings/Snoblins/Swains. Once again you may not learn a great deal of main weapons from them at that point but you will boost your defences nicely and they dont hit nearly as hard as leucro and the rest.

And I agree with Denz on the grass eels... You gonna need to boost those defences a bit more... Specially shield if your useing it in Reavers and Hounds.

Wow, you guys rock! I was in grass eels for like 25 minutes and got HE, parry, evasion, leather, shield, and MO all Mindlocked. Was amazing. The best part was I was only in danger of dying once, but they kill so slowly I can kill enough of them before I die. Thank you all so much.

I think I'm going to pause my mentals training for a circle or two to catch up on my REFLEX, agi, and stamina. But from the advice i've gotten in game, mentals to 20 fast is a very good strategy. I just feel like my ref, agi, and stam are holding me back in hunting.

If you guys ahve any other tips, I'd LOVE to hear them.

Don't neglect yer shield; it WILL keep you alive in the next war. Great for blocking arrows, stone fists, fire shards, viper spit, etc.

Keep yer defenses working; the weapons will come later.

Oh, and train yer shield some more!

At 15th, you also may want to invest in the "Serpent's Hiss of Warning" it's a roar that make enemies run away for a few seconds, and if you boost your charisma up, it can be a very effective way of staying alive (Especially after you get the nightmare berserk)

Aye, that was my next roar I was gonna take. I currently have Deaths Embrace to lower their offense temporarily and it has helped at times, but a room clearing roar for a quick retreat while berserked would rock.

And I've been tryign to train shield while I train my 3rd weapon, Two handed blunt. Right now I'm still in low end cougars with shield/war mattock.
