After reading the last few posts in this folder I figure I should post something on this subject...

The Mistbringer was purchased as the "Bard Boat" a while back (ship #36 of 85 according to www.lurksponge.com roster of the ships and owners). A few of us raised money for the 12,000 platinum Cutter (Cogs have no cabin = bad for instruments due to weather) however only 2,000 platinum was raised by the guild as a whole. The majority of it was my own coin. Unfortunately, I rarely had an opportunity to make use of the ship and there were other things I would prefer to buy for my own use. Therefore, I arranged to sell the ship to a group of three people (whoever it was I forget now as it's been so long) and they agreed to continue to allow Bards free passage on it which was one of the main issues back then, free travel to the islands. Since then it has apparently been sold again and now belongs to someone named Rumael (according to the website cited above). When I sold the ship, I know that a good many Bards were pissed at me but for as much as I had invested in the ship, I was getting next to nothing out of it. Since there are only three (count 'em, THREE!) positions that a ship owner can have for crew (that's including the Captain), it was not very practical for an entire guild to share. Three individuals held the power over the ship. The Enchante I never had any experiance with but I heard that it was little better since there was still only a few number of people who could control the ship. If there is to be a ship shared by a guild, some kind of mechanics issue needs to be made up so that there are more than 3 people in control of it. More people donating money to the fund wouldn't hurt either. I know Bards aren't, as a rule, rich but come on.

Also, I would point out that when I sold the Mistbringer, the 2,000 plat that was raised by the guild I returned to one of the other fundraisers in case anyone wanted to try to bring that fact up.

You can say it was returned to me. The funds were available for a very long time to anyone who wanted to reclaim what they invested. What was left afterwards was turned into a guild raffle.
