Does anyone have experience with the ritual foci from Vatari's Ritual Addiction in the HE Festival?

I bought the slender stuffed flute adorned with silver sigils elemental focus thinking, as a Bard, I could use it.

However when attempting to invoke it while casting a ritual I get the following message: The broad, enigmatic attunement of this flute escapes your understanding. You are unsure how to define the ritual with it.

Are these not useable with Bardic magic or do I need more Arcana skill?
