I couldn't get a clear answer from anyone in the trader tents, so I've come here.

If you wear a rain poncho, will it protect your instruments from the rain?

I think so. I have one. I'll test next time it rains or snows.

Umbrellas don't.

Not sure about rain ponchos, I don't think so.

Now wait, umbrellas do IF held in the correct hand, I believe that is what Dart posted when they first came out back in 2005 I think it was. The umbrella has to be opened and in the left hand.

And here is the proof on the umbrella:

Light snow begins to fall from the sky.
>get stam stick from inst case in my hand
You drip on the stamping stick as you reach for it.
You get a stamping stick from inside a bardic blue instrument case embroidered with golden knotwork which is in an exquisite nightsilk handbag.
>
The light snow falls silently down on the surface of your stamping stick.
>get umb
You get a midnight-black canvas umbrella from inside your sea bag.
>open my umb
You open a midnight-black canvas umbrella with a snap.
>
The light snow falls silently down on a midnight-black canvas umbrella, protecting your stamping stick.

However, the poncho's do not seem to protect.

You are holding a stamping stick in your right hand.
You are wearing a sturdy black leather rain poncho laced with waxed-cotton cord

The light snow falls silently down on the surface of your stamping stick.

Wow, what's the point of even having rain poncho's then? They were quite expensive if I remember correctly.

Ah, umbrellas do help?

Man, I sold my umbrella too. I could have sworn I had it in the left hand when I tried it a couple years ago.

Curious about the ponchos as well. Purchased one, and have not found anything special about them as of yet.
