Good bye old friend.
Saw you walk the starry road. Such a shame to see that happen. Does not sound like it was intentional from what I heard.
Hope to see you around again.

If you truly walked the road to the Void may Urrem'tier embrace you and your brave soul, for Everild would surely praise you in your valiant fight against hopeless odds. If Urrem'tier does not see it fit for you to remain, Xanost will surely feel he has lost a friend to the good graces of his patron.

Also know that if you decide to return, your friends will be here to help you get going again, whether it be equipment or some teaching. It seems it was your choice, so I hope you are happy in whatever you do, and where ever life takes you.
Be well my friend.

Basically guys.. I stressed way too much and was having a hard time of things. I made a mistake. The last few days I spent really soul searching and trying to find out how I could get so upset over something enough to get angry enough to walk her. In my stupidity, I thought someone would see that there is something seriously wrong if someone was to walk over an event. Well, there was something seriously wrong. I realized.. I allowed myself to get too involved.
I should of took a week off or two. I'm such the addict though it was difficult to do. In any case, I requested Daxlynn to be restored through feedback. I am also going to take better care of myself.
I apologize for the scare.. I have lots to restore. Your respect in me, Your faith in me.

As much as I like ya Dax, if they restore your character for something that was the users fault not the games fault that's just wrong. I've seen enough people walk and lose characters and they don't get them back cause they should have had favors. You knowingly walked yourself and as someone who was big into RP how do you explain this?

Re: Daxlynn on 05/17/2004 10:11 PM CDT
On the one hand, if I had walked and regretted it...and was given the chance to be restored, I would take it with both hands and to heck with what anyone else had to say. So I could understand this.
On the other hand, I think of all the other people who have done the exact same thing and felt the same way, but never got the opportunity... and... sigh I have some problems with this. But that has nothing to do with you.
I'll be happy to see you back.

Re: Daxlynn on 05/18/2004 09:37 AM CDT
I don't know the story behind this, other than that some people are upset because they're just now realizing that their role in the war is mostly cosmetic. Gee, imagine that. Didn't see that coming!
That said, the only issue I have with restoring Daxlynn is fairness. I read not too long ago that restorations are supposed to be extremely rare and are never done when it's the player's fault. Unless this instance suddenly changes policy and they become willing to restore everyone else who walked/walks in the future and wishes to restore their character, then... well, sorry, but you made your bed and should lie in it.
I just don't like the idea of somewhere down the line, feedback telling someone, "No, sorry, we typically don't restore characters after the player intentionally walks them. However, her case was special because she was a long-standing customer and was an uber RPer + commander. That gave her the restoration privilege."
I still pseudo-love you, Daxlynn, it's just that I don't feel terribly empathetic to this situation. Hold back the torches, everyone.

Re: Daxlynn on 05/19/2004 12:12 PM CDT
Restorations can be done and are done if you delete your character via the website. I had three characters restored that way. The way the tech guy explained it to me the characters were not really deleted just removed from the slots.
However walking yourself intentionally, or rerolling via the inn mechanics... That's a very sticky issue.
If one person who walks themself can yell 'Oops I didn't mean that" and be completely restored, it will raise the ugly topic of when DOES a character finally leave DR? And then of course there are the dozens of people who have walked before, suddenly wanting to have characters restored because they regret walking.
The newsboy wakes up and changes his position. "Invasion Rumors. Ain't
that something?" he remarks to no one in particular, and goes back to sleep.
Grishnok says, "Grishnok say already, Grishnok no forget. Grishnok do what asked."

Re: Daxlynn on 05/19/2004 01:21 PM CDT
And then what happens with all the people who've acted based on the fact that you've walked?
A week or so of RP all the sudden has been nulled by someone coming back and saying "Just kidding," or "oops."
We all make rash decisions. I understand that you want your character back, and want to un-do the decision. The best advice I can give is to start over, and become a better character as a result. It may take longer, but perhaps you can undo further mistakes and decisions you made while training, and the sort.

I agree. Let me push the advice a step further, though. Don't make another Cleric. Make a Warrior Mage, a Ranger, or a Moon Mage. Make a useful character with some real potential! That's what I learned when I was in your shoes. This isn't the end, it's rather just the beginning.

If I could have started all over again, I'd have to agree, never a cleric, I love playing Xanost, and maybe I don't make other characters because I've already invested so much time in this one. If I had to do it over again, maybe a Trader.

A proposal is on the table regarding restoration of walked characters. It's title "Soul Restoration" in General Discussions on the Cleric catergory. All further posts on this subject that do not first take that proposal into account are willfully ignoring the actual situation. Yes, I've built a wall around this issue, and I am willing to take the skill hit for it. You can no longer address this issue without taking the proposed sacrifices into account.

I'm not glad to hear you're brought back.
Honestly if you had any honor you'd do the right thing and once more walk Daxlynn, this is a whoops I can do over game. What you did cheapens the memory of all the people who walked before you. Hell I've tried to walk a few times but eventually I counted to 10 and took a break. What makes you so special? This really disgusts me to no end.
Once more I'll ask you to walk, you know we never met but I always respected you from your posts but this... I don't think you'll ever get my respect back for this childish tantrum you've thrown and like a brat the GM's have given you your toy back. You walked yourself, it wasn't a bug it wasn't a technical issue it was you choice. At least have the guts to stick by your guns.
On a side note if you do decide to stay, and that is your choice, I'd like you to give up your military title, you're not worth it, no good commander should ever abandon their troops. Which you did, at the very least you should step down and grow up as a player.
