Last I tested, if it was a "new" wood, when shaped into a block for bead making it loses it's type and becomes just a "plain" wood stick, aka not very beneficial for anyone unless you're just starting with very little mech presently.

Ahh. So if you get one of the old woods from lumberjacking or random forage, it should work fine?

However, you can still "forage stick/branch/limb" and get a random one. If its an old wood, you can proceed as normal then too.
