Since bless can be used via scroll now, any chance non-clerical types could be able to check the number of strikes left on a blade?
Maybe some kind of arcana/perception check, where as clerics can naturally divine this information?

Just a suggestion.

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

As someone who played a cleric for a long time, I would have loved it if it just went on a focus command rather than perceive.

Pray <weapon> and get the god's opinions? At the very Least to find out if it's blessed in the first place.

Seems like a perfect addition to recall if you ask me. That way all guilds can use it without needing to worry about magic experience or appraisal ranks or anything, the only downside would be that it wouldn't teach anything. But I don't think anyone really cares about learning from it, it's the information itself which is important to us.

Something like:

>recall awesome sword
You recall the fact that you've had the awesome sword blessed by holy magic.
The blessing should last for another 200 strikes.
Roundtime: 2 sec.

Could tie it into favors as an incentive not to run around with 3 favors. Carry 20 favors to show the immortals you put it a modicum of effort at faking devotion so they reward you with being able to sense remaining bless strikes. -> pray weapon.

I dig both of those ideas! Maybe something like, if you have 3-9 favors you can just tell the weapon is blessed, having something like 10-19 favors you can sometimes see how many strikes remain, and 20 or more and you can always see how many strikes are left.

Seems like a magical skill to me. I mean, you can't just count the number of strikes because you don't know how many you'll get to begin with. Putting it on focus wouldn't work though because what about cambrinth weapons?
