PoM and MF are ritual spells.

Ritual spells require a greater magnitude of mana to power the spell pattern and the completion of a ritual as part of the spell preparation. A ritual focus is also needed as well as the Improvised rituals magical feat for universal foci.

If you have the focus and feat (if needed):
Prep the spell, invoke the focus, wait out the RT, cast the spell.

Just an FYI, the ritual focus in Herilo's Artifact is the "pale blue-lacquered inkwell." It says "Metamagic" on Elanthipedia so it can be confusing. (No idea if Metamagic = cleric magic.)

soft blue silken reticule - Divine Intervention -- Is a paladin focus.

Can use the inkwell for pom and the reticule for mf without the need of learning a feat, they have 40 uses each.

Metamagic is the name of the cleric spellbook that Persistence of Mana is in, so that focus is the one needed for that spell. Divine Intervention is the other spellbook they have with a ritual spell in it, so that focus is needed for that spell. Or they can use the universal holy focuses labeled Holy for any of their ritual spells if they know the Improvised Rituals feat.

Ahhh! I knew there was a reason for it. Someone told me Divine Intervention was paladin, so I went with it.

Super confusing for a newbie cleric that there is a spellbook named Metamagic when there is also "metaspell" spells.

Your staff (assuming it's a ritual focus) is a universal ritual focus. As long as you've learned the Improvised Rituals magical feat from a magical feat trainer you can use it to prepare any of your ritual spells.
