Name: Anathema
Spellbook: Holy Enchantments
Prereq: Malediction (4th tier)
Spell Type: SvSp
Description: Developed by Imperial Inquisitor Archrean during the Great Purge that followed the outlawing of sorcery in 706 BL, Anathema was often used when the Inquisiton traveled to remote and primitive regions of the Empire where sorcerers held great influence. The spell pattern revealed these arcane magicians to the inquisitor, and with their true nature laid bare it allowed him to utilize his entire magical arsenal in exorcising this evil from the land.
Messaging: You point at a field goblin and throw your other hand behind you.
An (alignment color) light seeps from your finger into the field goblin, illuminating it from within as a (level) curse settles over it.
Function: Causes target to be cursed/evil for purposes of Holy magic. This allows the undead bonuses of SoL, PFE, MPP etc. to work on attacks from the target. Any offensive (TM or contested) Holy spell cast on the target will work, but the attack dispels the curse. For example PS's immobilizing feature and HE/HH will work on one cast (even if unsuccessful) but not on the next. HE/HH wouldn't ignore armor for the sake of balance with the other DFA vs. living spells.
Concept: Use for SvSp and touches on the meta-magic theme.
A fifth tier version w/ Anathema as a prereq called Interdict would work as an AoE curse.

An interesting idea, however, given how much complaining there already is about curses and the fact that having to recast them often as new critters arrive is annoying -- having this only last for a single spell is double annoying.
I'm just really not a fan of having it be dispelled after a single use. For a fourth tier spell I'd expect it to last until the critter died at the very least.
I like the concept, but I think it's a little too restrictive. In addition, I'm not quite sure why our existing curses can't make the critter considered "cursed" for the purposes of PFE, HE, etc.

Make it self-cast, with an additional verb.
>prep anath
>cast
Yay, you're righteous.
>invoke anath on marauder
Speaking loudly and deliberately, you condemn the gypsy marauder of heresy and blasphemy. Your strong cadence calls out the quiet, lurking evil and with a cry to Lemicus, you open wide his soul to your questing glare.
[Roundtime: 3 seconds.]

That the truth is what it ought to be." - Erik Claudin

It would last for a normal duration if used defensively or when attacking with mundane weapons. I figured the one time use would be a good way to let the Cleric take advantage of the higher functionalities of spells like PS, FF or HE while not making the vs. living spells completely worthless.
Perhaps instead it can be a sort of "barrier" that's worn down with each attack.
