A means of controlling and breaking our links, like such...

A ruffian arrives from the south, a smile on his face.

> manip friend ruffian
You attempt to empathically manipulate a ruffian's feelings towards you to be those of a friend.
You extend your will and empathically manipulate a ruffian to consider you friend, not foe.
A ruffian falters, and suddenly ceases hostilities towards you.
Roundtime: 7 seconds

> prep ai 10
You close your eyes and breathe deeply, gathering energy for the Asketi's Influence spell.

> cast foot
You gesture at a footpad.
You settle your gaze on a footpad, focusing your sight on its life essence. Deftly, you shift the footpad's life essence, causing a black aura to surround it.

> signal ruffian
A ruffian begins to advance on a footpad.

I'm trying to stay within the confines of empathic abilities. I think we should be able to manipulate something we can sense, and I would imagine if we can convince something to not attack us, we could by some means convince it what to and not to attack.

The above may be far fetched, but I would love something that could be done along these lines. And also, when the critter dies, I would love to be able to break the manipulation. I hate being left with no critters because my "friends" have killed my enemies and run off.

Renegade Empath Raudhan just arrived.

A cutthroat gasps, "I can't get UP!"

You begin to lecture Reexa on the proper use of the brawling skill.
You cackle!
You strike a heroic pose.

ooh i like that, expecially the "what not to attack" part

wouldn't mind haveing some spell or something to let our group members know which ones are friendlies as well (other wise it takes alot of cordination with each other)

Having been previously married to a Battle Empath, I believe this would be very difficult. It would, in essence, require an engagement rewrite that includesa check to see if a creature has been manipulated before the advance begins.

I think it would be much easier to modify manipulate so that manipulated monsters do not advance on any players in the Empaths' group. Of course, I could be wrong.

Ah, fond memories.

Poem gestures at a thin field goblin.
>
A thin field goblin stops advaning on Poem.
>
A thin field goblin starts advancing on you!
It is at missile range and closing (or whatever this message is).
>
You say, "Wow, that's friendly of him."
>
Poem nods.
>
Poem says, "He is my friend, and knows you have designs on my innocence."
>
You grin.

Actually, it would probably be easier to modify ASSESS than to change critter AI. I'll talk to the combat people to see if they are amenable to it and how complicated it would be.

you know what i'd personally like to see? a change in manipulate so we can manipulate next troll (i.e. the next troll not yet manipulated) or casting hl at the next troll (same as manipulate suggestion)

you manip first troll
you manip second troll
you manip third troll
troll comes in during the bedlam while you're typing
you try to manip fourth troll and are already manipping it

to stop this, manip next troll
manip next troll
manip next troll
troll comes in
manip next troll (this catches the one that just came in)
and so on

I'd like to be able to be able to break links with critters once they are completely engaged with another.
