I am just about to get the regenerate spell and I have just a couple questions. To confirm what I think I know, it will heal up insignifigant to minor wounds basically head to toe, but wounds only not scars and not nerves? What is the minimum prep people are using with it typically?

You can use the Regenerate spell with over 100 ranks in PM but it will only heal minor wounds AND scars. Over 200 ranks in PM and it will heal more serious wounds and scars but NOT bleeders or the really devastating type wounds/scars. Over 300 PM it will heal all but the most devastating wounds and scars as well as begin to heal nerve damage, but not severe nerve damage. Over 400 ranks in PM and it will heal everything including nerves, bleeders, etc.
I typically don't use it until I'm over 200 ranks in PM and I usually prep regen, harness 10 mana 6 times, then cast all, waitfor fully attuned, pause 120, and then prep iwh, waitfor fully prepared, cast nerve, prep ish and cast nerve, and then heal whatever is left over, if anything.

It'll heal scars and nerves with enough PM, I couldn't tell you what min prep though since with 800 PM mine will be a lot different than yours

You probably won't get too satisfactory results from this spell when you first get it since it requires holding 30-40 mana to ensure the spell continues to function which will fry your nerves before it heals you completely or even well. It'll also be very slow. However when you can get 50 or 60 into it, it does work quite well.

For clarity's sake, I assume your bleeder comment means that bleeders are handled based on the wordy/non-bleeder wound messaging level? If you meant that below 201 ranks of PM I could not heal away a bleeder at all, then you are sorely mistaken. I believe bleeders are a secondary feature of wounds, and therefore anything that reduces the "deep slashes" wordage of the wound automatically reduces the bleeder.
I believe very damaging (deep slashes) = heavy bleeder prior to any sort of reduction bug or feature, so below 201 ranks you can regen away heavy bleeders.

For clarity's sake, I know that regenerate will heal incrementally more severe wounds based on higher PM ranks, and without sufficient PM ranks, the spell will NOT heal severe wounds or severe scars. As PM ranks increase, the ability to heal more severe wounds (the kind that have bleeders associated with them) becomes available (as well as healing scars).

Nothing above "very harmful" is healed without cast all/total/everything. (ie.deep cuts healed, deep slashes not healed)

I honestly liked Regen even with sub-200 (well, 180ish) magic.
I'm really lazy though, so Regen was suited to me and my playing style. Yes, you'll get nerve damage harnessing 50, but by the time you do at least half if not most of your wounds will be gone and you can put all that mana into a nice IWH, and recast if you need to.

Oh, really? I smell a bug, then. I've healed them away sub-200 ranks. Slowly, but with no other problem.

ok, confused a little. (big suprise i know) is regenerate a held mana spell or is it like the other healing spells where you simply prep and cast? I get that the mana requirements are higher based on the idea of harnessing up to 50 mana but is the held mana what keeps the spell working? my typical spell prep is:

i always harness five after prepping the spell and then cast it to the specific part i want to heal. my assumption with regenerate is once it is prepped you would cast all?
