Thank you all for your suggestions. I've been spending time in large musk hogs just dancing away. My defenses are mid-twenties now. Unfortunately my brawling is only fourteen. The majority of that was gained through listening to classes as well. I have decided though to just keep pushing my defenses until I can fight boggles. There I should be able to attack them just fine to push my brawling up and over the beginner hump to where I can actually learn from maneuvers. Anyone happen to know what would be considered the base skill needed to dance with all the critters in the fallow fields?
On a side note, I am now seventh circle and I learned the Guardian Spirit spell. To any young empaths contemplating learning this spell, I say do it! My avenger is tearing through the large musk hogs now, which is a great way for me to learn skinning. (And make a bit of extra money on the side from the hooves.)
