I've got a crazy question...is there any special syntax for treating a 'dying' person, or is it just a matter of transfering vitality loss? I'd rather not come across someone who's life's hanging by a thread and find out I can't help them because I don't know the syntax...
Thanks,
-Battle Empath Karthor

The question is not at all crazy, Karthor. Thinking that I'm going to tell you the answer, however... <g>
This is brand new... go experiment. And to quote Congo: "We Are Watching You."
Seriously, this is very experimental... since it's never been done in one of our games... and we really hope that it both works and that you all find it to be a worthwhile addition to the game system and a good start to Hot Summer Nights.

Well I just died experimenting trying to get into dying mode. However no death text (ie, you will depart in x number of minutes, etc.) was generated either to myself or to the room, no * struck down message was generated. I also was rejuved and departed and came back without my experience reset to clear (okay, that part I rather like) but I did lose a favor and my coins reset to 0. It was a vitality "death" as I had several (non-killing) bleeders, external and internal.
Is that working?

Last night we experimented with death....A character purposely sacrificed their life...this is what we found....
I monitered her vitality until she slipped into unconsciousness....We received the messagin and I starting transfering my vitality to her...didn't do it fast enough, she died
We did it a second time....
This time she woke up, but not until her vitality was past 50% and her bleeders were cured..hence I was in rather bad shape as she (her body) contains more vitality than mine...
My point...
There isn't much time to bring them back from the brink...on her maybe I had 60-90 seconds....
Lower empaths who try this are going to find themselves dead I think...so I caution them about this....especially if they can't cast (low mana in room) to refresh their vitality or don't yet have the spell
Blessings,
Emerisel Draa of RiverHaven
To sorrow I bade good morrow and thought to leave her far away behind...But cheerily, cheerily, she loves me dearly..she is so constant and so kind. And I would leave her and so deceive her but Oh, she is so constant and so kind.

No Ryeka, didn't try heartlink, I am going to experiment more..though the consensus seemed to be that empaths don't have much time to do this....it isn't like two hunters can be out fighting..one gets hurt (becomes unconscious) and the other will have time to drag them all the way back to the guild (or the crate in Haven) in time.
I think that I heard the length someone can stay unconscious without dying varies based on a lot of things (anyone post what they are)...so we will have to see...Will try again tonight and post more....
