Apparently the 9th conflicts with more than a few things on top of it being a graduation weekend for a few people, so I'm going to shove it back a week.

The purpose of the meeting is going to be to discuss both recent and past events as well as general guild history for the generally uninformed. It'll be a chance to introduce newer people to goings-on in the guild, catch a few older people up on what's going on, and hopefully encourage some roleplay between members of the guild. If you have something to share, a story to tell, or just want to come listen, try to make it. :)

Date: Saturday, June 16th
Time: 8:00 PM EST
Location: One west of Kssarh

Will see about getting an in-game announcement prior to the meeting. In the mean time, spread the word, tell all your friends, and don't forget your pointy mage hat.

It's one of the older enchantments.

Basically, you need three material components. You get the cloth from Muspar'i, the stitching pattern from Aesry, and the dye from M'Riss.

Take the cloth and Imbue it. Then FOLD it three times. Then take the pattern, STUDY it to memorize, and STITCH CLOTH WITH NEEDLE. Then, take the dye and APPLY it until it's gone. Last, you do three sigils. Shrew acts as a base: don't need to activate or bind. Activate and bind the Owl, and the finish it off with the Spider. Then "charge" it once by casting Shadows, Dazzle, or Unleash on it. Shadows makes it dark and mysterious; Dazzle makes it shiny and glowy; Unleash makes it rainbowy and chaotic.

Don't forget to bring yours!

I believe pointy mage's hats ended up being against policy due to all the conflicts that came about from Moon Mages looking to the sky and stabbing whoever was behind them in the eye with the tip. You'll simply have to do with top hats.

Hold up a second - I was told that the spider was just for the standard hat, but if you wanted, you could add more sigils after the finisher and they'd show up in the TAP. Was someone pulling my leg? I figured I just didn't have enough skill to put that fourth sigil on.

No, the fourth sigil makes it a Grand Square, which is entirely too hard for any of us to pull off. Thus, it is unnecessary.

Also, get your leg checked by an empath. You may have torn a ligament getting it pulled.

In all seriousness, is it a Grand Square if you don't bind the sigil? With Astral Guides, we dump on a bunch of sigils after the conjoining phase; many more than four. I figured the Magical Pointy Hat enchantment worked the same way.
No! The hats are really real! They ARE! REALLY! I saw a guy wearing one, so I KNOW they're real! You guys are just trying to keep them to yourselves, and that's TOTALLY not NICE!

The messaging of Astral Guide creation states that you aren't joining the 4th (5th, 6th, etc.) into the Trine, the sigil is being used as a conduit to deliver a jolt of fresh squeezed star juice. You could think of it as putting the jelly into a jelly-filled donut.

I think I need some orange juice and a donut.

You focus your magical senses on a small freshwater pearl.
You recognize the delicate pattern of the Devourer enchantment, which is fully charged.
It appears that the matrix is based on a Grand Square sigil of the moon Katamba, the moon Katamba, the moon Katamba and the moon Katamba.

I've made dozens of Trine devourer enchantments. However, unless something changed without an announcement, "students" (i.e. players) cannot complete a Grand Square. If that pearl really exists, it's a special plat-only exception.

There was a bug with devourers a few years ago that would let you at least attempt a grand square. Maybe it's an artifact from that bug?

You should no longer be able to create Grand Squares, and I haven't gotten around to making the buggy objects auto-correct themselves yet.

If you still find yourself able to create Grand Squares (fully scribing, activating, and binding it), no matter what skill level you have, please let me know.

After several requests, insistent hints and vague threats involving pliers and very high windows, I would like to announce the date of the next Lunar Pow-Wow as being Saturday, January 12th at 8 PM EST. On that night we will be discussing the old events surrounding the Mirror Wraith Prophecy and its continuing influence in current events.

All Moon Mages and non-mages alike of any experience level are welcome to come to contribute, discuss, question and learn. I'd also be glad to open up the floor to guest speakers, so if you're interested in getting up and telling us all a bit about those events, please get in touch with me via my play.net address or AIM at ReverendReene.

My usual caveats apply; please don't bother coming if you can't conduct yourself in a respectful and in-character fashion. That means no talking about "gods" (GMs) and "pidgeons" (IM clients), and it means no instigating fights with people while you're there. That's my job. And maybe Kssarh's.

See you all there.

[Observatory, Third Level]
A twisted framework of oak timbers and brass machinery nearly fills the room. At its center, the tremendous tube of a weer crystal telescope slants upward at a slight angle toward the dome's center, splitting the air like a precarious steel pillar gone askew. A thick glass lens extends a small space beneath the scope's circular base. You also see a shadowy mirror, a morose Shadow Servant, a cantankerous Shadow Servant, a ponderous Shadow Servant, a canvas sack, a grumpy Shadow Servant, a small bubbling cauldron of viscous gloop, and a large wooden sign.
Also in the room: Enchantress Aluriaz, Rulae who is sitting, Nomad Ravenwolf, Valona, Queen's Consul Fierolan, Magess Kitya, Journeyman Moon Mage Kelnorree who is sitting, Prestidigitator Kerelynn, Ianus who is sitting, Yavus who is sitting, Incanter Venairthew who is sitting, Coralin who is sitting, Malzard, Mathea who is sitting, Caelumia, and Magess Quejen who is sitting.
Obvious exits: east, south.

Caelumia puts her mirror in her suede haversack.

Caelumia places a hand on a shadowy mirror and closes her eyes in concentration.

Caelumia furrows her brow.

>l cael
You see Caelumia Y'laeth, an Elf.
Caelumia has an oval face, slightly pointed ears, tilted blue-grey eyes and a pointy nose. Her silver-gilt hair is long and fine, and is worn coiled in an upswept twist. She has freckled skin and a slender figure.
She is short for a Elf.
A dusky tempest sapphire rests on her forehead, just above her eyes.
She is adult for an Elf.
She has a tattoo of a tiny blue crescent moon cradled inside a shadow black star inked simply on her left wrist.
She is in good shape.

She is wearing a silver kyanite gwethdesuan, a silver jadeite gwethdesuan, a pair of lapis and jade hairsticks, some dangling crescentic moonstone earrings, a twisted gold and silver necklace accented with star sapphires, a blackened oak shrew in a pewter setting, a simple haversack of twilight-blue suede clasped with a heavy silver swan, a full-length formal robe sewn from midnight blue silk woven with soft silvery highlights, a slender silver bracelet with lapis and jade charms, a simple antique silver bracer, a slender silver knotwork band, a slender white gold wedding band scattered with twilight sapphires, an albredine crystal ring and a pair of dark blue spidersilk slippers set with diamond chips.

Kerelynn asks, "so whats this meeting about again?"

(Caelumia motions for everyone to have a seat.)

Kerelynn says, "sorry haven't heard about it"

Aluriaz says, "is jus' an excuse fer alla our servants to get together an' party"

Caelumia recites:

"Gather round, good worthies, and hear what I've seen,
Reflected in a glassy eye.
Heed the truth of my words alone...
...For prophets never lie."

Caelumia recites:

"Three deceivers set forth upon the lands,
Emerging from the cold
-- While your protectors sleep and dream soft dreams
Their plans already unfold."

Caelumia recites:

"No king! No squire! No heart nor reason
Can alone unturn this darkling treason
But an army or a legion
Will find their weapons worthless lead --
'pon Elanthia, barren, dead."

Caelumia recites:

"To the first, a man with platinum eyes that once reflected moons
He grasps at all he cannot have in a chamber of lapis and gold
For the promise of power he'll bring forth change...

...And ruination, ere this tale is told."

Caelumia recites:

"To the second, once a warrior saint,
Now a fiend to the eyes of the blind.
Only one knows where his path truly leads,
Through battle, and aethyr, and time."

Caelumia recites:

"To the third, a bone-yard, and a restless grave,
Lost in the trinkets of a tragic past.
When every hour is spent in delirium dreams
A moment's peace is a fortune amassed."

Caelumia recites:

"An artisan will become his final work,
When the stars begin to fall.
The first Deceiver re-awoken --
And its brethren hear the call."

Caelumia recites:

"Trust not what you know, o worthies,
In a realm of confusion and strife.
Nothing is as it first appears,
Illusion the deadliest knife."

Caelumia recites:

"With this weapon the Deceivers shall strike,
And a mighty blow be laid.
An ally will fall, one hope be lost,
In a grave that your ignorance made."

Caelumia recites:

"One shall travel a province most unwilling,
Kidnapped by a righteous man.
Blood will be shed as it passes into
Strange circles and stranger hands."

Caelumia recites:

"While the wise mourn, the wiser take heed,
And brace against turbulent times --
Now comes the season of discontent,
With a shadow o'er people's minds."

Caelumia recites:

"War begins in an unlikely place,
Fought with precious metal and lies,
Sides are chosen, lives are staked
With a curse the only prize."

Caelumia recites:

"Now two are one and one is lost,
Held in a sanctified place.
A dead man knows what the living do not,
But keeps a somber face."

Caelumia recites:

"A confession is a treacherous thing,
From a soul so weary and tattered --
But words of truth will unmask the darkness...
And the work of five centuries, shattered."

Caelumia recites:

"With hours left upon the clock,
And doomsday well at hand,
A midnight sun will shine upon
A forever altered land."

Caelumia recites:

"And what of the future, o learned ones.
What will become of you --
The choice resides in your hands alone...
...And this is the only thing that's true."

Caelumia recites:

"No king! No squire! No heart nor reason
Can alone unturn this darkling treason
But an army or a legion
Will find their weapons worthless lead --
'pon Elanthia, barren, dead.

And here, perhaps, some light has been shed."

Caelumia clears her throat.

Caelumia says, "This, much scribed, much recited, much puzzled over, is the full text of the Mirror Wraith Prophecy."
>
Caelumia says, "As written by those who preceeded me in this guild."

Caelumia says, "The powers of prophecy can only be as powerful as the people who lend it meaning. When the mirror wraith, a strange creature from another plane of reality, came to a group of students and delivered this prophecy in return for the warmth of a memory, people scrambled to make meaning out of it."

Caelumia says, "They scrambled to bring to a halt the catastrophies that seemed sure to befall us at the hands of these three people, the Deceivers, whoever they were."

Caelumia says, "But the deceivers were not a who. We did not know, but they were not people, but things, a device whose construction began centuries ago."

Caelumia says, "We did not know. There was so much we did not know."

Caelumia says, "These events, which spanned several years, are long past. Decades ago this all happened, yet its echoes still linger."

Caelumia says, "It is still important to understand what happened, to look back and learn from our mistakes... our follies, our foolish assumptions... to look back and understand why."

Caelumia says, "This story, truthfully, began years before this prophecy was delivered."

Caelumia says, "This device, started by unknown enchanters, claimed by Tezirah and completed, lost, and discovered centuries later by our own guildleaders."

Caelumia says, "But that's all getting ahead."

Caelumia says, "It's more fair to start where our peers saw it start - with a woman named Lady P."

Caelumia says, "Penelope, or Lady P as most called her, was an undead lich, and an esteemed member of this guild. A contradiction to be sure... as such a process is reviled, the product of only the most foul of magical arts."

Caelumia says, "But she was a teacher of many, including our own Grandmaster Taramaine, and held in high esteem. She had lived since Imperial times, and shed light on many mysteries our guild discovered."

Caelumia says, "In her possession was a box. A music box, said to make the holder able to listen to the souls of children. Any living being that held this device would go insane, but as Lady P was not alive, she was deemed its keeper."

Caelumia says, "After this prophecy was delivered, a man named Kellior rallied a group of Paladins at their guild, telling them there was an undead abomination that needed to be killed."

Caelumia says, "Lady P offered no resistance, but asked only why, said all she ever wanted to do was help people. When she died, Kellior, who was undead himself, took the box and fled south."

Caelumia says, "Demosel and a group of students chased him. Demosel was another who had looked up to Lady P, and regarded her as a good friend. Enraged, Demosel slew Kellior on the gondola, and the box fell into the chasm."

Caelumia says, "It was recovered there by the Mountain Elves, who would retain possession of it for some time."

Caelumia says, "Around this time, Demosel's brother Andraethu began earning notoriety for himself as a murderer of children."

Caelumia says, "He held a strange device, a trapezoid, which was also designed to drive the holder insane. He bid an artificer named Mortreyu to repair it, used it to murder him, and fled."

Caelumia says, "The astute among you may begin to notice that the pieces of the prophecy are beginning to come together."

Caelumia says, "This trapezoid turned out to be a key. Andraethu showed up at a later time with a strange hemisphere, saying he had gone to southwestern Therengia and recovered it using his device, which was destroyed in the process."

Caelumia says, "This hemisphere was the first part of the Deceiver device."
>
Mathea sighs.

Caelumia says, "Andraethu continued with his madness, murdering two more children before Grell, another lunar mage, finally caught up to him and killed him."

Kystrk says, "thats Mister Grell"

Caelumia says, "Yes, Mister Grell."

Caelumia says, "Grell was more of a freelance mercenary. Known to be charming, yes...and known to be a lover of Gylwyn."

Caelumia says, "It was Gylwyn that convinced him to turn the hemisphere over to the council. Councilwoman Elvaka claimed it."

Caelumia says, "Shortly after this another lunar mage made themselves known... a Bonedancer by the name of Lasarhhtha."

Caelumia says, "Most of you should know of him, or at least know of his home - Oshu'ehhrsk manor was and is his ancestral family home."

Caelumia says, "Lasarhhtha was quite mad. He was driven by the desire to put the souls of his ancestors to rest. He was deceived into believing that recovering the pieces of the Deceiver device were how he could accomplish this."

Caelumia says, "This is what lead him to steal two things - one, the music box from the Mountain Elves, and two, a book from the Bone Elf clan."

Caelumia smirks.

Caelumia waves her hand distractedly.

Caelumia says, "The Deceiver device had the peculiar property of leading the possessor of one to the other pieces."

Caelumia says, "It should be said that at this time, Mortom was...dead."

Caelumia says, "Or at least he was presumed dead, and had been for years."

Caelumia says, "The music box contained the obsidian hemisphere, the second part of the Deceiver device."

Kystrk says, "semisphere"

Caelumia waves her hand distractedly.

Caelumia says, "Now, Mortom was not dead, but in an enchanted sleep. He went into such a state to protect the crystal key, the third part of the device. Gylwyn, knowing that the piece Lasarhhtha held would lead him to Mortom, woke him up."

Caelumia says, "The key was passed around to conceal it, mostly through students. Ileia was the last student that held it before Lasarhhtha found her and kidnapped her."

Caelumia says, "In his manor he told her why he was seeking the device and took the key from her."

Caelumia says, "That left one... the piece the council held."

Caelumia says, "Lasarhhtha then orchestrated the attack whose effects linger with us to this day."

Caelumia says, "During a meeting of the council, one of Lasarhhtha's disciples released a deadly poison, likely of necromantic origins. The majority of the council died and walked on the spot."

Caelumia says, "Lechsu... I'm unsure of his fate after the attack."

Caelumia says, "Taramaine, Annisean, Erzebet, and Khaman survive unscathed. Elvaka, Jonela, and Waldrin went into permanent and as far as we know irreversible comas."

Caelumia says, "So Lasarhhtha acquired the last piece of the device."

Malzard says, "Interesting enough, the ability to cast a mirror upon the main Council Chambers reamins to this day, despite that area being indoors."

Caelumia nods.

Caelumia says, "Taramaine ordered anyone that would listen to attack Lasarhhtha, get the device back. And so they did. They invaded his home just as he was beginning to assemble it."

Caelumia says, "The device was recovered and handed over to Taramaine by Lovelorn."

Caelumia says, "He lead many to the island of Taisgath, where the last remaining obelisk stands."

Caelumia says, "And so he confessed."

Caelumia opens her small notebook.

Caelumia asks, "'We've come far these past nine centuries. We've accomplished so much -- and yet, so little. Has it all been for nothing?"

Caelumia says, "'When did fate snatch us all up and lay out our paths? Where did it all begin, that which conspired to force these events into existence? Did it begin over a thousand years ago? Did that one sorceress set the wheels of fate into motion? Tezirah.'"

Caelumia says, "'She found an artifact, one begun five hundred years before her time, but one unfinished. She completed the device, and she was determined to use it to cause destruction throughout the Empire. What's more, she practiced the foulest arts, the corrupt sorcery.'"

Caelumia says, "'And so, they went to kill her. They went to her manor, the Imperials. They tore it apart to find her. They found in there a path underground, and they took it. There they discovered the sorceress. And there they discovered a massive slab of stone, shimmering, pulsing -- surely, they thought, this must be some instrument of her dark magic.'"

Caelumia says, "'Fools. The obelisk predated even Tezirah, and was almost as much a mystery to her as to them. Nevertheless, it was upon that obelisk that the Imperial soldiers hung Tezirah.'"

Caelumia says, "'Or tried to, anyway. The instant before she died, she did -- something. She tried to escape them, and failed. And thus began the reports of bat-winged skulls, and their connection to Tezirah. But her failed spell summoned a dreadful beast, who proceeded to slaughter most of the soldiers. The shadowmaster. The Imperials fought it, losing many, but managed to kill the beast. Mostly.'"

Caelumia says, "'They burned Tezirah's Manor, they shattered the device, and they collapsed the ground. And they thought that was the end of it. Who would have imagined the uninhabited wilderness where Tezirah made her hideout would later become the site of the deciding battles of the Resistance War? And that a major city would be built there?'"

Caelumia says, "'Did it begin eighty years ago? When we retrieved the legendary Arte of the Black Cockatrice, and used it to create the Y'Shai? Or ten years later when we stumbled on Tezirah's ruined mansion -- Mortom, Erzebet, Demosel, Grell -- and me. We assembled the device, foolishly enough. And lo, two shadowmasters appeared before us. So many died by their wicked claws. They killed excavators, students, researchers. Two Council Members died. So much death; we had to stop it.'"

Caelumia says, "'It was then that I utilized that which I had never before used. Erzebet and Mortom joined in with me, adding their power as well. We had to stop the killings, stop the beasts. And so we used sorcery to slay them. It was the only option left to us. If we failed, the shadowmasters and their spawn would descend upon the unsuspecting Crossing. Countless would die.'"

Caelumia says, "'I regret that, now. Demosel refused to help, in that. And the mercenary Grell was wounded by a shard of the exploding obelisk -- the obelisk we inadvertently destroyed with the magics we had never before used. And Shanrolias stepped in the way of the spell. The first Y'Shai to die. We discovered their secret then. Horrendous. We left the body there, we left the manor. By the gods, we hoped none would ever set foot in there again. Ah, but people did.'"

Caelumia says, "'It was a foolish hope. All along, it was fate for those devices to be reassembled. And when we split them up again, certain it was the end of the artifact, destiny would see to it that events brought them together again.'"

Caelumia says, "'And now you know it all. Since the death of the Council, I have been plagued by visions of a nightmare world, our world, overrun by shadowmasters and the creatures of darkness. Tenebraelings, voidspawn, eviscerators -- the mortal races fleeing in terror before death incarnate. This world will come to pass if that artifact is destroyed. I've learned that, now. That was its purpose.'"

Caelumia says, "'The only way to ensure that this never comes to pass -- we must make the ultimate sacrifice. In order to prevent our world from being consumed by darkness, we must give up our gift of foresight. I am sorry. I have devoted my life to the Moon Mage Guild, but that it should come down to this! Gods! But there is no choice, no choice. This world's fate hangs in the balance. The Mirror Wraith has shown me what must be done, to save both Planes from destruction.'"

Ravenwolf's jaw drops.

Mathea raises an eyebrow.

Caelumia says, "Like the Paladins that slew Lady P, like Andraethu, like Lasarhhtha, like every one of us, Taramaine was deceived."

Caelumia says, "He activated the device, and again a rift opened, a rift into another plane where shadows are made real -- the Plane of Probability."

Caelumia says, "And out of this rift, alive and bearing all the rage centuries of imprisonment had given her, Tezirah came."

Caelumia says, "She killed many, of course. Taramaine was among them. Students..."

Caelumia says, "So people began to do the only thing they really could. They pushed her back in."

Caelumia says, "And despite those machinations and all the powers of sorcery she wielded, the tide of people shoving her back into the hell she'd climbed out of actually succeeded."

Caelumia says, "The one who gave the final push, a student named Pathian, fell in with her, and the rift closed."

Caelumia says, "Accounts he gave afterward were... odd. He said he woke up from unconsciousness to find her staring hatefully at him."

Caelumia says, "His way out ended up being a spirit beacon on the body of Taramaine."

Caelumia says, "But it's said that before he escaped she collected something from him, an essence or part of his spirit."

Caelumia says, "Tethia emerged years later, their supposed daughter."

Caelumia says, "But that's another story."

Malzard says to Caelumia, "Look how you piqued their interest."

Caelumia mumbles something under her breath.

Malzard says to Caelumia, "Make a note of the next meeting."

Caelumia waves her hand distractedly.

Caelumia says, "Pathian lost his mind in later years anyway, I imagine he snapped from the stress of what his 'daughter' later did."

Caelumia says, "And I think... I think that's it."

Kelnorree asks, "how did Pathian have a daughter with Tezirah?"

Caelumia says, "I don't think that's a question we'll ever know the answer to."

Malzard says, "He claimed it was without contact."

Quejen says, "What was the secret you mentioned with the Y'Sh?ai"

Coralin says, "That they have no soul."

Caelumia says, "Their soul is extracted during their creation."

Quejen says, "Yikes, that is horrible..."

Caelumia says, "When they die..."

Malzard says, "It's also disgraceful and hypocritical."

Caelumia says, "Their souls do not walk. Their souls are forsaken from walking the starry road."

Kelnorree asks, "then how are they if they have no souls?"

Quejen says, "But our guild 'creates' them? Isn't that akin to necromancy? I imagine something without a soul is the same as undead..."

Kelnorree asks, "I mean, what keeps them alive?"

Caelumia says, "Their armor."

Caelumia says, "Yes, our guild creates them - from mages."

Caelumia says, "The application process is very stringent."

Kelnorree asks, "but are they even the same person then?"

Kelnorree asks, "with no souls?"

Coralin says, "It's from a sorcerous txt, the arte of the black cockatrice."

Malzard says, "Having never known one prior to the process, I couldn't say."

Malzard says, "I suspect not at all."

Caelumia says, "Soul extraction is not the only process."

Caelumia says, "Part of their minds are magically cauterized to guarantee unwarvering loyalty to the guild."

Coralin says, "Their cambrinth armor is bonded to their very bones."

Malzard says, "It enhances them exponentionally."

Kreanth asks, "when I first joined there was alot of talk about two mages, or two houses and people picking sides, I was too young to understand anything, what ever happened with all that?"

Caelumia says, "That is more modern."

Coralin says, "It's also of note that Erzebet is the one truly responsible for their creation and it is she above all others that ultimately controls all Y'Shai."

Kystrk says, "a lot of people decided that they were happier with Lasarhhtha than with the Council"

Kystrk says, "he gave us a lot of spells and abilities the council would not release"

Malzard gives Kystrk a slight nod.

Kystrk says, "and seemed to reveal more about what happened"

Kystrk says, "although these days no one really knows who was right"

Malzard says to Kystrk, "How I went back and forth with Odiin..."

Kreanth asks, "are there ever minutes kept of these meetings?"

Kystrk says, "there were far more than two factions"

Kystrk says, "during and after the culmination of the prophecy, the guild splintered into several groups"

Kystrk says, "some were sect alliances, some little better than gangs"

Kelnorree asks, "so, am I correct in assuming the Prophecy was merely an attempt by Tezirah to enter our world?"

Malzard says, "To return to our world and exact her revenge."

Kelnorree asks, "then why has she not tried to reenter yet again?"

Malzard says, "And to a certain extent I think she succeeded in that."

Kystrk says, "she operates on a different timescale than we do"

Malzard says to Kelnorree, "That would be where Tethia comes in."

Kystrk says, "to her it hasn't been that long"

Caelumia says, "And the Deceiver device was not a simple creation."

Kelnorree says, "that makes sense"

Caelumia asks, "Something like... what, five grand squares on each component?"

Kystrk says, "three"

Kelnorree asks, "what happened to the Device?"

Caelumia says, "It took five centuries to complete."

Coralin says, "It's at the obelisk."

Malzard says, "You can observe its remians."

Coralin says, "Melted and slagged."

Kelnorree asks, "on Taisgath?"

Coralin gives a slight nod.

Malzard says, "That is where it happened, where we pushed her back."

Malzard says, "Right there."

Kelnorree says, "but"

Kelnorree asks, "did you not say she started to use it centuries ago?"

Kelnorree says, "and was thwarted"

Kelnorree asks, "surely that means it had another purpose does it not?"

Coralin says, "Tezirah discovered it, someone had already begun construction on it."

Coralin says, "We do not know who."

Coralin says, "Perhaps the builders of the obelisks themselves."

Caelumia says, "Her manor is beneath this guildhall."

Caelumia says, "And you can see the results of the sorceries that Taramaine and the others unleashed."

Kelnorree says, "I have seen it"

Kystrk asks, "are there three or four obelisks?"

Kystrk says, "I always forget"

Coralin says, "Three we know about, but there is probably a fourth."

Kystrk says, "always is, right"

Kelnorree asks, "are they not supposed to be tied to the moons?"

Kystrk says, "maybe its in Malzard's turban"

Kelnorree says, "that is what I remember reading"

Malzard says to Kystrk, "Maybe"

Malzard quietly says to Kystrk, "Or maybe it's in your Air Sytks."

Kystrk asks, "its hard to be fashion icons, eh?"

Malzard nods at Kystrk, obviously agreeing with his views.

Kelnorree asks, "what happened to the daughter of Pathian?"

Coralin says, "She was possessed eventually."

Coralin says, "Her mother's power passed onto her."

Coralin says, "She tried to fight it, but was ultimately unable."

Malzard says, "Less a possession and more an assumption."

Malzard says, "No, she fought it and could have continued."

Malzard says, "But a situation arose..."

Coralin says, "It's unclear if she was controlled by the shadowmasters or Tezirah herself."

Malzard says, "...she was compelled to accept her power to save someone's life."

Yavus asks, "I am a bit confused, did you not say we must give up our ability to peer into the future?"

Kystrk says, "Taramaine was wrong."

Caelumia says, "I was quoting Taramaine's confession. And yes, he was wrong."

Malzard says to Yavus, "That is what Taramaine believed, in his madness."

Yavus says, "I have one other confusion"

Yavus says, "Last meeting I attended Gulphunger was killed and names taken"

Malzard says, "The children of Kalestraum have since used the obelisk to disrupt our connection. It must be guarded, it must be maintained. Hence the patrols on Taisgath, our ownership of that island, and Lomtauns vigilant gaze from on high."

Caelumia quietly says, "Because that would be a terrible thing, losing ones' foresight."
Kelnorree asks, "how are they using the obelisk to do that?"

Valona says, "Would drive one mad.."

Caelumia says, "In any case..."

Malzard says to Caelumia, "To accept the consequences for one's self may be one thing. But to thrust it upon all of us, and permanently no less."

Malzard squints at Caelumia.

Caelumia says, "These events from the Prophecy, we still feel them."

Malzard says to Caelumia, "Surely you agree that would not be desireable."

Caelumia says, "In the wake of the assassination of our council..."

Caelumia glances at Malzard.

Caelumia says, "Taramaine declared a state of emergency and assumed unilateral control over the guild and its affairs."

Caelumia says, "He never renounced his position and titles."

Caelumia says, "We still don't have a council."

Kelnorree asks, "but, he was deceived was he not?"

Kelnorree asks, "how does that make for a good leader?"

Caelumia shrugs.

Malzard says, "They all were."

Kelnorree says, "so I gathered"

Malzard says, "We...I should say. We all were.."

Kelnorree asks, "so why is foreknowledge the crux of the matter with the prophecy and with the Children now?"

Caelumia says, "It is a matter of... small annoyance for some people that a self-admitted sorcerer still leads the guild."

Kelnorree says, "ah"

Malzard says, "Is it? I would think many should rejoyce."

Coralin glances at Malzard.

Kelnorree asks, "but did not those skills and that knowledge thwart the shadowmasters?"

Malzard says, "For me it is less his confession, and more his utter failure to move forward from those destructive days."

Caelumia says, "Keep in mind..."

Malzard says to Kelnorree, "These are different times. Dazzle can thwart a shadowmaster."

Kelnorree says, "oh"

Caelumia says, "The music box, the trapezoid, Mortom's death-sleep, these were all meant to keep the events that happened beneath this guild secret from everybody."

Caelumia says, "The trapezoid was a creation of Erzebet's."

Caelumia says, "They were -designed- to drive the people who held them insane... and see what they did as a result."

Malzard says, "To maintain our sanctioning. To maintain that unity which is key to our survival."

Caelumia says, "To keep a sin buried."

Kelnorree says, "but that speaks to the evil nature of the creator of such a device, not proof the knowledge used to fashion such devices is evil"

Caelumia says, "You're confused."

Caelumia says, "The device was a product of lunar enchanting."

Kelnorree says, "I see more cause for concern in the secretive nature of those involved than in the secrets being hidden"

Kelnorree asks, "and that makes the Devices acceptable?"

Caelumia says, "I'm not certain what you're arguing right now and I don't think you know either."

Kelnorree says, "you object to one who has sorcerous powers in charge of the guild"

Kelnorree asks, "is this your meaning?"

Caelumia says, "What was unleashed beneath the guild was sorcerous magic in response to what the device released when it was put together."

Caelumia gazes off to the east.

Caelumia says, "I object to nothing."

Caelumia says, "I'm just here to teach."

Malzard gives Caelumia a slight nod.

Kelnorree says, "then you are correct"

Kelnorree says, "I am confused"

Caelumia asks, "Did anyone else have questions about the prophecy?"

Caelumia says, "Or anything else they'd like to bring up."

Yavus asks, "How are you concerned as it relates to; now?"

Caelumia says, "The fact that we still don't have a council some four or five decades later is a little bit of a concern."

Malzard asks, "How many here even recall when we did? How many have met Council members?"

Malzard says, "It's pitiable."

Kystrk says, "is that rhetorical or do you want a headcount"

Malzard says, "Lets consider it rhetorical."

Kystrk says, "lets"

Yavus says, "I looked through the first mirror, "

Yavus says, "And I have visited the council "

Kelnorree asks, "what would prevent a new council from repeating the hubris of the last one?"

Valona asks, "Who would be in charge of bringing a council together? Why keep waiting?"

Kystrk says, "the sects seem to have retaken most of the authority of the council, which was in fact simply a representation of the sects"

Caelumia says, "Taramaine."

Malzard says, "An organized representation, which lent itself to real action and cohesion."

Quejen asks, "So why not just reform the council around a representation of the sects?"

Caelumia says, "I don't know. Celestians held majority control back then."

Caelumia says, "Because we don't have the power or authority to. We're students."

Yavus says, "We had one representative on the Council"

Caelumia says, "Khaman."

Caelumia says, "He resigned after the attack."

Malzard says, "He was in good company, as a Celestian."

Yavus says, "As I recall it was a bitter vote"

Caelumia says, "Two of the council members in a coma are now dead also."

Caelumia says, "The whole thing is dwindling."

Kystrk asks, "it was him and Psychi, right?"

Caelumia says, "You've pretty much got Taramaine and the Tezirites."

Yavus says, "Loverlorn was in there too"

Kystrk says, "yeah but Love never had a shot cause of the connection with Lasarhhtha"

Malzard says, "Not to mention her relationship with Taramaine."

Yavus says, "Interesting times"

Malzard says, "He would never see her in the Chambers."

Kelnorree asks, "what of the guild leaders then?"

Caelumia asks, "What about them?"

Kelnorree asks, "would they not say something if they felt it was needed?"

Caelumia says, "They aren't on the same level as the council."

Kelnorree says, "but surely they would be listened to"

Kelnorree says, "I know I would not avoid listening to Kssarh for example"

Caelumia says, "They don't have the authority to do anything."

Malzard says, "There is still a Grandmaster"

Yavus asks, "Weren't some of the guild leaders in the room that night?"

Kystrk says, "no guildleaders were killed"

Yavus says, "Aye, but I seem to recall Tiv being present"

Yavus says, "But I am getting old and the mind wanders"

Kelnorree asks, "has the Grandmaster stated a reason for leaving the empty seats unfilled?"

Malzard says, "He may have been."

Malzard looks at Yavus and shrugs.

Malzard says, "Obviously if he was, he was not killed."

Yavus asks, "I think they had to leave the room because of a vote?"

Malzard says, "Taramaine, Erzebet, and Annisean left. That I recall."

Kelnorree asks, "does the Prophecy relate in any way to what the Children are doing now?"

Malzard asks, "Do you believe you see a connection?"

Malzard gazes thoughtfully at Kelnorree.

Kelnorree nods.

Malzard asks, "Will you share your thoughts?"

Valona says, "Leaders, council, students.. bah! Hate the sit and wait for some one to desided to do some thing. That my thought."

Kelnorree says, "there seems to be a theme of deception shared"

Caelumia says, "Heritage House came into being after all of this mess."

Caelumia says, "A bunch of disillusioned librarians annoyed at the whole sects thing."

Caelumia says, "Taramaine promptly converted to Heritage House and declared it an official sect."

Yavus exclaims, "We want unity unity unity!"

Kelnorree asks, "disillusioned how?"

Malzard says, "The Heritage House seeks only to remaintain all that we have gained from being together. If you would prefer to hold these meetings in a yurt, or a mausoleum, by all means...."

Caelumia says, "This is a Celestian house actually."

Caelumia says, "I hear their hall grows pretty flowers."

Malzard says, "A part of it"

Malzard says, "And yes, it does."

Caelumia says, "Yes. Heritage House loves turtles."

Kelnorree asks, "as I recall, were not the Children responsible for that?"

Caelumia says, "Yes they were."

Caelumia says, "It was hilarious. I remember a Heritage Keeper walked by my mangled body and asked me what the hell happened."

Caelumia says, "I told him the turtle exploded."

Malzard says, "And here I thought the criticism would blow up with it..."

Caelumia says, "He yelled 'NOOOOOOOOO' and ran off."

Kelnorree says, "so, the Heritage House was formed after the events that unfolded after the Prophecy "

Yavus says, "Aye"

Kelnorree asks, "and the Children destroyed something created by the House?"

Malzard says, "As a result of the fractures within the Guild."

Kelnorree asks, "why?"

Yavus says, "HH was getting too popular"

Caelumia says, "To cut off aid to Taisgath mainly."

Caelumia says, "But I'm sure the humor factored in somewhere."

Kelnorree says, "turtles can be funny I must admit"

Caelumia says, "You have no idea."

Yavus says, "You should visit the ruins"

Kelnorree asks, "the Children are espousing other magics for the guild are they not?"

Kelnorree asks, "in part as an objection to the Council and its habit of hiding such magics?"

Malzard asks, "What Council?"

Kelnorree says, "at least, that is what I seem to recall from previous meetings"

Coralin says, "The council ceases to exist now."

Coralin says, "The Moon Mage Guild is run solely by Taramaine."

Kelnorree says, "fine then, as an objection to Taramaine then"

Malzard says, "Sorcery is against the Law, it goes beyond us."

Kelnorree says, "but there are other magics being hidden I thought"

Kelnorree says, "not just sorcerous ones"

Coralin says, "Yes that's true."

Coralin says, "Like Cage of Light."

Kelnorree asks, "what is the goal again of the Heritage House?"

Yavus says, "To unify the guild"

Yavus says, "We see no need for sects"

Malzard says, "Beyond acknowledging their irreplaceable and unique contributions to our collective identity."

Kelnorree asks, "has there been other attacks on any other mage facilities besides the Heritage House?"

Malzard says, "The attack was not on Heritage House, it was on Taisgath"

Caelumia says, "Indirectly."

Malzard says, "It was in preparation for their ritual at the obelisk."

Yavus says, "Alas I must go, Thank you Caelumia for your hard work and devotion to our guild"

Malzard says, "It was also not without loses on both sides."

Kelnorree says, "well, it seems there is quite a bit of similarities between then and now"

Fierolan says to Caelumia, "I fear we must also take our leave. Thank you very much for the informative lecture."

Caelumia says in Ilithic, "There are.. things... I hope I see you two again."

Caelumia says, "Thank you, everyone, for coming."

The silence weaves a tapestry of once enchanted themes,
The shadows listen carefully and question what it means;
For stories have lives of their own,
But what good's a story whose end is unknown?
