The air takes on a sudden chill as a glittering deep blue-grey sphere flares and rushes at an asaren celpeze!
The asaren celpeze stops suddenly, frozen in place by the flash of icy light, but only for a moment -- a flurry of activity follows as bones, flesh, and blood all snap, crackle, and rearrange themselves under the stress of the frigid starlight.

Just curious what everyone's favorite constellation to use with SLS is and why? My own personal favorite being the old reliable Toad. It seems to be the best balance of style, power and availability.

For general purpose use, I usually stick with the Toad, since I like the color and don't need to check if it's available. When I sometimes want to pump up the output with an offense constellation, I've been using the Cat.

Magpie. Shadowy black, easier to maintain due to slow speed, and always available.

When I want more speed I use the spider which is crimson. The other always available options are the cat which is an ugly ruddy red and the viper which is a non-moonmage-like bright green.

I don't use average speed constellations generally, but I have used the Raven for the deep purple.

I am amused by the popularity of the Toad.

Spider. Same reasons as above. I like the idea of faster attacks.

Spider. I'm not thrilled that it's brilliant red but it's always available and offense.

Wish SLS cast at cap had a % chance to calve additional spheres to strike every target in the room for one pulse.

I tend to go for Raven to get that deep purple goodness, unless I have a need for speed, in which case I go for Spider.

oddly, the slower ones are sometimes more powerful.

<<oddly, the slower ones are sometimes more powerful.

This is just subjective perception. All other things being equal (mana used, tm skill, etc.) there is no difference in the potency of the spheres.

What you might be seeing is a faster sphere not stunning as often because they're attacking again before the first stun wears off. But that doesn't make it less powerful.

Was the spell homgonized in 3.0? I haven't used it in years, but I seem to remember that different constellations created different type of spheres.

I'm not sure what you're referring to in that link. I'm referring to something like this: http://www.olwydd.com/guilds/moonmage/sls.php

Where certain constellations meant more damage (by increasing the pulse frequency) and others meant faster engagement times.

I linked that page because it answers both your questions. It's obvious from your post(s) you didn't read it.

Okay. I see it now. Wouldn't it have been easier to just say, "it still does" rather than linking to pages of irrelevant information wrapping the three sentences of confirmation?

Since that is probably the worst spell page on Elanthipedia, I don't blame anyone for reading comprehension issues with it.

It's an almost 4 month old thread focusing solely on why people choose a specific constellation, with examples posted throughout. The reading comprehension failure wasn't limited to elanthipedia.
