Are items in Shadow Servant as secure as items in a vault? Is there any way to lose them?

I finally learned this spell and I really wasn't expecting items inside to persist upon release and re-cast. Now that I know they do, I'm tempted to leave a pack with my expensive crafting tools on 'em, but obviously wouldn't do this unless its 100% secure.

Items in a Shadow Servant are fairly secure (And far more than they were in the past). I would not say they're on par with a vault both as far as policy is concerned if anything goes wrong and the ability for us to recover items should it go wrong.

That. Gloom and doom policy aside, I can't think of a single case of lost items ever since release was changed to not have your servant dump stuff on the ground when not in your presence or not dropping stuff when it was handed stuff when full. And even before then, those were the only causes of item loss.
