As you get higher Thanatology skill will you need need to perform rituals on critters of higher rank as well? I assumed this is the case but I wanted to check.

<<Do all of the rituals essentially provide the same amount of skill or do the ones gained at later levels provide more skill?>>
I haven't tested this, but I feel harvest teaches better then preserve. I also feel I may be learning more when I get higher quality bits. Please don't quote me on that.
I know this: if life is illusion, then I am no less an illusion, and being thus, the illusion is real to me. I live, I burn with life, I love, I slay, and am content.

nope, empaths can't out you by attempting to teach it to you. they are told XXXX doesn't have the proper training to listen to thanatology. They can only teach it to each other. sneaky empaths!

<<I thought harvest gave outrage, which we don't want?
You get divine outrage every time you circle. The point of the exercise is to not get so much divine outrage that the gods smack you down, not to never get any. It's going to happen.
I've been using harvest on every mob I kill, and although I don't cast many outrage spells I'm not worried. Maybe I'm wrong, but they do have to take into account that at some point we're going to be spamming consume in order to heal ourselves.

<<You get divine outrage every time you circle.>>
I'd be curious to find out if this is true. I understand the lower limit rises, but does circling itself cause Outrage?
As in, say a range between 1-200, and your Outrage is as 85. When you join, say the lowest it can be is 0, but by circle 5, the lowest it can be is 50. If you have 85 Outrage, and circle five times, will your new Outrage be 85+50, or just 85, only decaying to 50...?
I know this: if life is illusion, then I am no less an illusion, and being thus, the illusion is real to me. I live, I burn with life, I love, I slay, and am content.

Question: it was stated that Redeemed Necromancers will still be able to circle, but you seem (if I am interpreting this correctly) to be implying that rituals -which are the only source of thanatology experience - will be a source of outrage.
Will Redeemed Necros be forced to stick with preserve and only preserve to circle?

I find myself taking up to an hour to lock it when hunting goblins using the preserve variety...is there a better less discreet way to train this? I keep hopin no one pops in as I perform the ritual...
Currently circle 6. Just looking for a way to build on my skills a little quicker then what I'm currently doin.
Thanks!

Preserve isn't really that obvious anymore when people see you doing it.
Harvest teaches better but is much more suspicious looking.
You have to decide what matters more to you, learning or having plausible deniability if someone walks by.

Keeping Than moving at low levels is somewhat difficult. It was quite painful until I accepted that I needed to kill things about as fast as they spawned to lock it up and just started spamming EB.
This has changed now that I have the stamina to swing a weapon with any degree of regularity.

Well prior to the cut change than used to be really easy to move after 5th. Now the best advice I can give is find a swarmy hunting area that is out of site, and harvest your little heart out.

The best way to learn is to kill faster. I have no problem locking thanatology using just preserve IF I fight extremely efficiently.
Try picking up a second weapon like 2he or HB that does more damage. When you're putting things down in one or two swings and it's an area with a good gen rate, you'll be a lot happier.

>>Try picking up a second weapon like 2he or HB
Third fourth and fifth weapons help as well. Oritaibeng trains two armors leather and bone. Shield and parry of course as well. Weapons wise I train 2HE as primary, HE secondary, as well as LE, blunt, and brawling. Ranged wise I train three bows which are short, composite, and longbow. In between training combat skills I use harvest untill I've locked thanology to 15/34 and skinning 15/34. Typically they get close to each other. After that I switch to preserve which of course trains FA, thanology, and I've added arrange after the preserve so I'm still learning the skinning as well. I believe the trick to training this is to not pay much attention to it. Focus on your combats and harvest/preserve and you'll start moving your ranks.
No ranger stands alone.

What is this idea in which you speak of...
Friends?
Yeah, I struggled through it, but it made my toon better because of it.
Now i'm stuck in that stupid limbo spot between beisswurms and giving another shot to bloodwolves. Beisswurms are going to stretch me until at least 25th circle, if i can find a place that teaches swimming at a reasonable pace.
Here's to getting my teeth kicked in again.

I'm kind of wondering what combat level people are reaching at what circle now. I was halfway done with sand sprites before I even hit 20th. How are other people doing?
