So this Asimov novel "The Gods Themselves" got me thinking about this. In the novel, a device for effortless perpetual energy is invented, but several characters discover that the use of the device is mucking with the physical laws of our universe. This allows the laws of a parallel universe to seep through and, very slowly, change how physics works here. This threatens to make the sun explode and kill everyone, by screwing with the gravitational bonds of its particles.
I wonder if the same idea is at work here. I don't know if this is a theory already (IC or OOC), or canon, or previously discussed and declared wrong, or something else.
But it would be sort of cool if there was a tiny whiff of a nether plane or whatever that got through to us whenever a nasty necromancer spell was cast, and we're all hurtling toward a tipping point that will turn our plane into another hellscape if we keep doing enough of it. It would certainly explain the observation that the gods don't care if a warmie or moonie blows up a block full of orphanages but they poop bricks whenever anyone raises a corpse.

This has happened a few time in the past before, some notable examples:
From the Lyras wiki:
>"In 394 AV she fought toe-to-toe with Prince Vorclaf, whom was channeling the avatar of the god Meraud, and Burarm. Performing a ritual that required blood from her heart among the components, she opened a wider conduit to the demonic force fueling her powers, leading to a massive planar incursion that permanently altered the Plane of Abiding. This force and the avatar of Meraud clashed, and Meraud withdrew, leaving Vorclaf and Burarm to be murdered by Lyras. "
And from Treatise on the Elements, Volume 2 (book):
>"In essence, the Voidspell used by the Four caused a rupture in the fabric of the Plane of Abiding which allowed the presence of Void to seep in to the Plane of Abiding, weakening the barrier surrounding the Plane and making it more susceptible to further tears. "

Break is such a mean word and comes with the baggage of assuming the current iteration is the good one.
I prefer "improve for those who aren't the Immortals"
Uzmam! The Chairman will NOT be pleased to know you're trying to build outside of approved zones. I'd hate for you to be charged the taxes needed to have this place re-zoned. Head for the manor if you're feeling creative.

> I think it's fun to remember that Necromancers aren't the only beings who have destroyed entire planes of existence. Whatever we're doing to break this one is bad, sure, but never forget and eagle tears for the Astral Plane and narrowly avoided Maelshyvian catastrophe.
When all life as my character knows it stops instantaneously and every molecule in his body explodes at the speed of light this will be a great comfort to him.

Oh it's be slower and more painful than that.
